  1. I love the first picture. From looking at his size i would have thought the same thing too. The babies loook good. How big is the tank?
  2. What i do if my fish have eggs and i take to long to get the babies out and they are all over the place. I either wait till mom heards them all into the cave/flowerpot. And steal the flower pot out, cover both ends. At one point i had to suck them out with the syphon. I have also used and ear cleaner, sucker thing. Cut the end off so the hole was big enough and just sucked them out like that. With no harm done to the fish. Im not sure on them surviving or not. But congrats. I hope that helps. Jen
  3. They are awsome fish. I LOVE them. They dont seem to be to aggressive to the actual adult guppys or tetras. And i was told it keeps them from hiding in there shells. But those are the only other fish i've kept with them for a short period of time.
  4. depeding on the size. I had guppies in my shell dweller tank. And the only time they went to the top was when the guppies had babys and the shellies had very full tummys. I have some fry the same age too and if they were still in the tank. I would think they would eat them also.
  5. My fat loach- Multi's Gold's Ornatipinnis-

  7. You replyed before i did. Anyways i did a quick search and found the link. here it is Tropheus Variant Distrabution It will also be in the library. Thanks wendy
  8. Lamprologus multifasciatus Julidochromis transcriptus Lamprologus Ornitpinnis Cherry Shrimp
  9. I noticed that no matter how heavy they are. They somehow manage to move them. LOL. never caught them doing this. but everyday its a new suprise. i dont think ive seen purple ocellatus before. you should get pictures of the little ones
  10. It looks really nice. I never thought of barnacles working for shellies either. Just wait until they rearrange the tank to their own liking.
  11. not that i know much. but what i would do is put them in the 20g with a divider.
  12. i have two who act just like that and the one has a massive belly. of course its very rare andof course i havent done it. i would just watch and wait and see. goodluck
  13. Most of my shells are very large. Openings and insides. They have the small ones that they came in from the store, but they are attached. I will one day remove them.
  14. well i have lots of shells for them about 7-10 each tank maybe i should just cover the bottom. i have a all different shapes and sizes? maybe i should stick to smaller shells? And my grandmother in law from b.c just went out and collected me some more. she just needs to send them. So they will have lots.
  15. well im pretty sure they are doing something weird. LOL The golds are certianly not afraid of me. They only have the light that the room lets off as i dont have a top that fits the tank. The multis one turned darker in color and has been spending alot of time with the other one. They also did a rehaul of the tank recently and moved every thing in it. They moved all the sand into huge piles and took a fake plant i had floating and put it right above there shells. Its kind of amusing watching how much they do. Thanks for all you help wendy. Gives me more to think about and every day im keeping an eye out for little ones. i can only hope.
  16. why did they eat the babies or bite you? My gold bit me once and omg scared the :cuss: right out of me. I just dont really have patients. I really want to know if i actually have pairs or not. Mine is only a guess.
  17. I have two different pairs of shell dwellers. In two different tanks Ocellatus golds and multis. i've read lots of articles on breeding them. Basically based on judgement of the fish behavours i came to the conclusion that i have 1m and 1f of each group. Anyways i would like advice on breeding these and anything else. Both sets have been showing strange behaviour and no fighting or aggression what so ever. I have one of each that will stay in the first shell they picked and of course one of each that wonders from shell to shell. Couple of times i caught them in the same shell. Im just curious if maybe they are hiding babies and how the heck i would find out.. They seem to be contently gaurding shells now which they never really did before. Thanks Jen
  18. lmao. Should pay closer attention to the dates.
  19. http://aquarium.shuru.com/DIY%20Aquarium%2...%20Page%201.htm and it has pictures. I thought it was in the library. but i guess not. i will post it there too. enjoy. Jen
  20. well i definatly will now that i seen that. still curious as to what happened tho. :eh:
  21. i have a site i can post if people want ...On making caves with pvc. and how to get the gravel around it. i have also made a coconut cave and i love them. And when my discus were spawning and in the main tank and i would steal the filter intake tube. I went to home depot and bought a box of small slate tiles. they are small and i think you get 6-9 per box for 5 bucks a box. they are for trim and stuff. I have made it for a spawning cone type thing. but when the fish didnt use it.. I layed it on its side and all my fish love it. i just thought i would post a picture. Its great its cheap and you can make it any size and shape.
  22. basic lights that came with the tank. I hadnt shut the lights off yet. it was in the inside. i was about to turn them off when i noticed and watched. and it happened just about everywhere. Not lots but you know. So i called the other half down and he seen it too. Just turned the lights on this morning and there nothing unusual. The blue specs are gone. Also i do not have nothing blue in the tank. besides the airline and air stone. i will keep checking throughout the day and again tonight. The reason i thought it might be the heater is. the tank is about 10months old from the person i bought it from. He had bought 2 petsmart heaters a black one and the clear one. Well the heaters looked in bad shape. The black plastic one was cracked and the glass one worked. but didnt look to good. So i had purchased a back up heater just in case this one went. i usually shut the tanks down around the same time and i havent noticed anything unusual in that tank yet.
  23. i have two different batches of hrp babies that are a month old. They are about the half the size of the biggest ones. they all share a home in the 80g now. i have never seen no aggression only when one dies of natural causes, you will catch them eating him. they tank only has gravel, a small fake plant and some sort of weird decoration thing.
