  2. mines not mush, its been in there over a year, i dont see why you cant add some soil, but i have reg gravel on top of it. works for me plants love it, i use fert sticks for my swords also. FF
  3. for a cheap good subtrate, get a bag of plain ol clay cat litter, i use it and my plants took off after adding it under the regular gravel.
  4. thanks for the comments, no there not a year old yet, i dont think its a gold pheonix, april had a dif name for it. but i cant rem now.
  5. For juvie discus , should have a bare bottom tank, w/c should be done 50 -100 % everday, with lots of small feedings during the day. for adults you can get away with one or two wc a week, depending on how much the tank is stocked. hope that helps. FF

Thanks, this is my first planted tank. the discus came from april at petsbeautiful in vancouver. those arre stendker discus from the us. i have another tank of 6 more i got from her just trying to grow em out now. as far as the planted tank. ther eis no co2, just vals, amazon swords dwarf sag, and a red lotus which i grew from a bulb bought at walmart, lol. its about 8 months old, and just starting to grow out, as i ordered them from aquariumplants.com, they came in with i ce on them, lol, didnt think they would survive, the corkscrew vals didnt , but the rest died back and grew. so im happy. and no algae issues either which is nice. well theres a little info on the tank. wanna know more jus ask. FF

  10. http://www.angelfish.net/yabbse/index.php anything and everything you need to know about angels. they take about 7 days to become freeswimming as to when you should start to feed freshly hatched baby brine shrimp. if this batch doesnt work out therell be another in prolly 10 days or so. good luck with em.   11. thanks for the replies, at the moment i have 2 fluval 405 on the tank and it is stocked lighty at the moment, i also do 50-70% wc weekly so matinence regime is not an issue, i may try, not sure if im gonna switch yet or not, just playin with the possibilities at the moment. so as to reading a little on the oscar site, there area a few possibilities, i like these two, with 2 oscars 3 tinfoil barbs, and 3 clown loaches,. or 2 oscars, 5-6 silver dollars, and 3 clown loaches, as it would be nice to have a couple large fish and a school of med fish, hmm, decisions decisions, haha, thanks for the help.
