Help needed!! 33 gallon tank Light fixture I have currently holds a Life-Glo 2 30" 25 watt bulb I need more light for my plants to grow!! I'm having a hard time finding 30" bulbs though. Even Hagen website doesn't show any 30" bulbs Anyone know of any anywhere in Calgary? Thanks
  6. Can anyone identify this plant? Thanks!!

  8. Howdy folks! New to aquatic plants. Have always been interested in the natural look. Have done a lot of reserch but one quetion still remains unanswered.... I move in about 1.5 months. Will have a new 75 gallon when I move in. But in the meantime I would like to see if I can even keep plants alive! I was thinking of growing some in a smaller tank, say 20 - 30g. If succesful, can I just transfer to the plants/substrate to the 75g the first day I set it up?? or will they die during the cycle period like fish do? Thanks!!
  9. Haven't actually bought any fish yet. Tank is still cycling
  10. ok 1 last question... I was planning on using an aquaclear 70 and 30 on each side of the aquarium. I was told by a LFS that I should use the aquaclear 70 and an aquaclear 50 powerhead instead. I thought tangs don't like water flow..... Can anyone clarify or make suggestions? Going to get the equipment today!
  11. I kinda of figured the Front wouldn't work. Thought I would try though More Petricolas - got it! The Mrs will be unhappy if I don't go with Daffodils lol. It was the one fish that she wanted no plans on breeding at all and cross-breeding would be bad. How would I get around this? 1 fish of each peacock species? all females?? Any other types that anyone can recommened that would be suitable? Thanks for advice so far!
  12. Wandering over to the cichlid world from community and was hoping I could get some of you to critique my stocking list as well as filtration. Fluval Osaka 70 G tank 1 Aquaclear 70 and 1 Aquaclear 30 2 x Daffodil Brichardi 2 x Sunshine Peacock 2 x Ruby Red Peacock 2 x Black Calvus 2 x Electric Yellow 2 x Bristlenose Plecos 2 x Synodontis Petricola 1 x Frontosa Thanks a bunch!!!
  13. My cousin recently set-up a new tank and after looking at it I realized that the fish do not mix very well in the size of tank he has. He says the guy at the store said it was fine so he is going to take the "professionals" word for it. I need the professionals on AA to prove me right!! We have a little bet going and hoping you guys win it for me! 29 gallon long 1 Red Jewel 1 Blue Acara 2 Kribensis 1 Firemouth 1 Bristlenose Thoughts on the mix and tank? Thoughts on what to do?
  14. For those who use the Aquaclear filters, which inserts do you use with it? I have heard of people who use just the sponge while others use sponge, carbon and another form of media. Any tips? It would be for a community tank
  15. Not sure how to describe this so I will do my best... Tank stock... 3 keyholes, 1 gold ram, 2 zebra danios, 1 BN pleco Story... My fiance wanted to take the danios out because they kept chasing the other fish. It took her 2 days and numerous attempts each day to get them out. After she got them out, all 3 keyholes went into hiding for 2 full days. 1 came out looking normal while the other 2 came out with their tails AND fins clamped together into a point. If you think of a tack, the top is the fish and the pointy part is their tail!! The also lost their color. Now they have a hard time swimming without their fins flared out. Before she decided to take the danios out, the keyholes were doing just fine. Any ideas as to what is going on? EDIT: I have since taken ALL fish out of her tank and put them in mine in case of poor water quality. She wasn't very good at looking after her tank! They have been in my tank for 2 days now and swimming around as much as they can
