  1. Thats what I love about nano's. Nice work!
  2. For me its the colors and diversity. Oh ya, there are more toys to buy for a SW tank. Oh, and don't forget the research and endless hours of wondering "how did that happen?" when referring to your tank, and your bank account.
  3. Hi, I'm new here but I'm not new to Reef Keeping. The first few things you will need in order to convert to a FOWLR tank are as follows: Refractometer. Don't waste your money on inaccurate swing arm or float style salinity contraptions, you'll end up buying a refractometer anyway. Well worth the extra money. Live rock. For 100 gallons buy as much as you can because it does most of the filtering. Its expensive so look for deals in the various buy/sell forums online. There's always some one shutting down a tank. Flow. As mentioned above, you need at least 4x more flow in a salt tank. Filteration. You should be able to get by with your cannister filter for now but ditch the filter media and just use it for carbon. Save up your money in order to buy a good protien skimmer, don't waste your money on the cheep ones, again, you'll end up buying the more expensive ones in the future anyway. These are just my opinions but I hope it helps. Danny
  4. A test kit that is 1.5 years old is probably not acurate any longer, at least not a Hagen test kit. Do you have a magnesium test kit? If Mg is off it will distrupt the other two readings. Also, Kent's turbo calcium is a really good aditive to rapidly increase Ca.
  5. Here's an idea. See what temp the water will be in the room you are going to keep it and then research what sea creatures you can keep under those conditions. Keep in mind that pumps and lights will warm your tank too. In my basement the tank will drop to 69-70 without my heater, but that is also without my halides.
  6. I don't really consider adding a UV unit as a band aid. It could be a valuable addition to any existing filter. What other form of filtration do you have on the tank?
  7. If you want fish only than PCs or T5's will do. Those loght will probly do for softies as well. If you want to keep more advanced corals like LPS and SPS you might want to consider jumping right into a metal halide setup. How deep is the tank?
