  1. Closest I have come to id'ing those cories is Corydora delphax. I have 5 or so in my tank but I think all mine are male.
  2. I was the auction crazy lady in orange. :shifty: :w00t: I had no will power today. Came away with lots of plants, just about all the books, lots of tanks and misc. Some bronze cories, black moscow guppies, mix bag of fish, the nice ember tetras and a lone yellow lab cichlid (who doesn't really have a home, but I felt sorry for him and grabbed him for a dollar.) Had good driving conditions home to Grande Prairie, only had very little snow flurries, but am glad I am home after the 4 hr drive. Thanks again to all the runners and ACE for the great auction.    Now off to put the new fishies to bed. LOL
  3. 1-albino corydora 2-peppered corydora 3- 4-red eye tetra 5-zebra danio 6- 7-loach Hope that helps.
  4. They look like corydora delphax. I have a 6 of the same ones you have. I think all mine are male.
  5. I know that the two day shipping was not possible with my location (Grande Prairie) with Canada Post according to Tommy. My shipping took three days. I also ordered on a Tuesday so that my fish would hopefully come before the weekend, next time it would be ordered on a Sunday or Monday. My shrimp were also left in my communal mail location with a key. Canada post seems to be having some problems with their update tracking system-Mine didn't even tell me there were in Alberta until delivery. Hope your shrimp survive. Fish stores are manned by mainly uneducated (fish wise) staff, they hand out the nitrogen cycle info without reading it, or don't hand out anything. Sometimes if you are lucky you will meet a very informed staff member but those are fairly rare. Hope your fish get better.
  6. Sorry about your fish. No one likes to lose fish, especially for an unknown reason.
  7. Lost one of the newest C-150- still have two hoping for a male and female. Now only if they would breed, have to move the roudy bronze cories out of their tank and into another, maybe with the quiet they will feel more comfortable. Now that I think about it and after reviewing a post on another forum you just helped me realize that my one odd cory out is a C-150 too, I thought it was a C100 but it is a C-150 So on further review I have 3 hopefully 2 males and female-my odd one is small and doesn't have the best whiskers.
  8. Okay guys, very funny. This is a fairly serious question as I have 80 cherry shrimp coming from shrimpfever tomorrow and have no real idea where to put them other then my ten gallon with my emerald dwarf rasboras and my BN and my other 7 cherries. I don't want to overload that tank and kill off all my new shrimp. So the other option is to split the shrimp up into the tanks with cories- but if they are going to be lunch then I won't risk losing them. I could shuffle my fish around if necessary. Do shrimp eat cory eggs or any fish eggs? or are they the ones on the menu. Thanks for any help.
  9. I have a few tanks that are right now cory only hopefully breeding tanks with maybe a ABN as company. Would they eat the RCS? The cories are sterbai, duplicanus, panda and bronze. They would have quite a few hiding spots. Also would the shrimp eat the future cory eggs? Thanks.
  10. My fish survived the trip home, but this evening I am sad to say lost one of my C-120 cories(am crossing my fingers that it was one of the males and not the female I need). Looked perfectly healthy other then being dead. Maybe stress-the mystery of fish deaths remains. Did a water change. Syno321 what temp do they like? My water seemed a little warmer than normal so maybe that was it?
  11. I picked up: a bunch of anubias most of the crypts Cories, cories and more cories- bronze, sterbai, C-120's, dup's. They ate most of my budget. Now to get them to breed. vals, ornaments that no one wanted. hornwort the old calenders that I bought for the fish pics that I want to frame. Columbian red tetras A few other items. Met a few members. I was the one wearing the rust colored shirt in the middle. Thanks to ACE for the auction and show. Very enjoyable.   Just got home so now the fish have to settle in after a 6 hour car ride.
  12. I am having trouble with some of my anubias barteri (I am hoping not all). Their rhizomes are melting, turning to mush-but the leaves look healthy and are fully green but the stem connected to the rhizome is mush and thus the leaves float. That is the only warning I have that the plant is finished-a floating leaf and then I touch the main plant and all the leaves come off and nothing remains. It is getting frustrating as they are nice looking, healthy looking plants until the leaves float. Any ideas as to what is happening? Do I have to fertilize? I have liquid flourish, iron, and excel but haven't been dosing. My anubias nana in the same tank is doing great-it just has me so confused as to why it is melting- the rhizome is not buried they are just tied to pieces of slate/shale. Please help! Thanks.
  13. A friendly reminder--It's spring runoff time again. The water companies are adding the chemicals again in higher dosages. The water In Grande Prairie smells like a swimming pool and tastes chemically (at least to me). Time to double dose our water conditioners to protect our fish. Also time for me to go to bottled water at least until the runoff is done-I don't like the taste out of the tap.
  14. breeding or have given me babies yellow guppies mutt guppies BN plecos panda corys (when they feel like it) Corydora weitzmani (when they feel like it) Corydora trilineatus (false julli) when they feel like it) Corydora anueus (bronze cory)-haven't kept any eggs for a while Also of note: Corydora weitmani and trilineatus will interbreed and the fry are viable and grow to adulthood (don't know it they are fertile or not) What to breed corydora duplicareus- hope I have males and females with my 6 Maybe emerald dwarf rasboras and galaxy rasboras cherry barbs
  15. Just take them off at the base of the leaf stem. The rhizome will look bare but given time it will regrow leaves and in some cases new plants from where the old leaf was. As long as the rhizome is green and firm it most likely will regrow. Good luck.
  16. That is great that they breed, thou their timing was off for you. I have 6 and haven't had them breed yet. Did you do anything to set them off or was it just them ready? If you ever want to sell some, I would like to add to my school.
  17. I threw the rhizomes into my cherry shrimp tank- or in my case the anubias hospital tank. I now have about 5 anubias with differing amounts of regrown. Hope these ones regrow-time will tell.
  18. They must of been grown emmerged, as one lost all it leaves, the other is hanging on to some leaves but expect them to all rot pretty soon. I have never had a anubias that rotted/melted like these did. Crypts yes anubias no. The rhizome is firm and I trimmed the roots so here's to hoping it comes back. I really like the look of them.
  19. Another quick question. Can I trim their overgrown roots?, or will that hurt the plant? I have quite a bit of anubias nana that is rhysome and only thin roots, not these very large thick roots. It is true that they need a rhysome to make a new plant and not only one of these very nice roots? I know crypts can grow from a root. I will be most likely tying them to a piece of slate.Thanks.
  20. Which ones fishclubgirl- I have 9 types of cories. Ow wait I am a cory hoarder so no. Got to love their cuteness. Thanks for the id on the plant.
  21. What type of anubias am I? Pic 2 is different then pic 1 and 3. Thanks
  22. Nasty, nasty little worms. I had some that wiped out a tank of guppies came with some platies a few years ago. This was before I knew that there was a treatment. Most stores I am guessing, don`t even realize that they have worms. Fish die and they think nothing of it. The average person probably would not notice them either unless you knew what to look for or noticed that your fish were getting skinny and had red worms out the butt. I only thank the fish gods that I had separate items for each tank( net, siphon hose, and anything else that could cross contaminate other tanks.)It didn`t spread thou I do know that other people have had it go through all their tanks. Fish stores are in it for the money, and with the number of fish that are shipped to them they could be infected right after they fixed the problem. It either ends with suppliers who should treat their fish and then ship them worm free or with us the ever weary fish buyers who have to quarintine and treat the possibly sick fish. It would be nice to also see some meds that are readily available. Not everyone has a friend or knows where to find someone with the meds that work.
