  1. I saw some friends liked their FB page, so I FB messaged them to ask if they did local pickup, and it turns out I know the guy through kayaking. He is a good guy so maybe try to msg again, might not have got your msg maybe? When I posted this to a FB group someone said they had ordered and it went well.
  2. Check out this new online aquarium plant store that ships across Canada and is based in NW Calgary Website: http://www.thewetleaf.net FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheWetLeaf/
  3. anyone can use the 'report ad' link on the upper right side of the ad. (I did a report but more people can too) I also let the company who's photo was stolen that they can report that their photo was stolen by contacting kijiji
  4. I have always wanted to do a tank full of albinos (true albino with red/pink eyes). Maybe when we move to a bigger place this year, I can make this a reality. Stock options: Albino BN Pleco Ivory Mystery snails Albino dwarf frogs Albino cories Albino rainbow shark Albino Barbs (don't know if these are community guys though) Community fish such as albino tetras, guppies, swordtails etc. But I really would like some red/gold/albino sailfin mollys. I had some ages ago, they have spectacular iridescent colouring. I would post a picture, but every time I try to post a link the page freezes. Other ideas for community albinos? Any albino FW shrimp?
  5. Thanks! I like the inline heater and the magnet panels. I was thinking of slate stone cladding around the base and stainless steel or wood for the canopy. I found lots of design ideas but I can't post links to my posts for some reason.
  6. Thanks! That's good to know. I think painting black or clear tubes would work. So I think I would like to set up one that would be viewable on both long sides. So I think I will do something like Jvisions Tropheus or Cainchows divider tank work in progress Thoughts about hiding or placing heaters in a long tank? Here is what I was thinking: http://st.houzz.com/simgs/9071c0b8028bf61d_4-4228/tropical-living-room.jpg
  7. Did you decide how you are going to set it up? (Intake, output, power heads etc) I think I want to do something similar.
  8. Thanks! Do you set up canister filters by running pipe on the outside of the tank and then in the top? Or are they set up through a drilled hole in the bottom of the tank?
  9. We are going to move to a larger house in the fall so I will finally have room for a larger aquarium. I think the largest I have had is 30 Gallons or so. I currently have a 20 gallon long and I like the look of the long, but not too deep look so I was thinking of 5-6 feet long and maybe 18-20" high and wide. So it would be 75 to 100 gallons. It will be a freshwater community tank (probably small schooling fish, shrimp and snails), heavily planted with rock and driftwood for décor. This would be my fancy display tank so I would like as much of the equipment hidden as possible, but as I am new to larger tanks... I have no idea about how these canister filters and sumps and such would be set up. I haven't decided yet if it will be viewable from the front and sides only or if it will be a room divider and be seen on both long sides and one end. I have a bunch of new 46" T5 lights that I would prefer to use for the lighting set up, as I already have them. I was thinking of getting the tank and a metal stand custom made and then cladding it myself. So I am looking for suggestions or guidance on setting up the lighting/hood, filter systems, heating, water changes, CO2 etc and the best way to keep them hidden from view. (behind a panel in the aquarium? or all hidden below in the stand?) I am pretty handy so I could build things if needed. Or any other useful tips when moving to a first large tank? Is there a good book or website that shows an 'ideal' equipment set up? (I really don't like the trickle sound of water if the water level gets lower than my HOB filter, or humming noises. so a quiet system would be ideal) The only tip I have noticed so far is it is good to have two smaller heaters so if one breaks or gets stuck on that it won't get too cold or too hot. Thanks! Just want to start planning now since I have some time on my hands.
  10. I recently got the Fluval E series and it really has been great at keeping a steady temp. I've only had it for a month So I can't say how long they last. They are pricey but I got mine on sale at pieces. Maybe check amazon reviews? I thought some places, maybe big als? You can pay for an extended warranty, but I'm not sure.
  11. hey! is this kayak chris? i recognized your username! hellllooooooooo! KristaX
  12. Omg! Yes that is what I'm looking for! Please do let me know if they breed. And if big als gets some in. Might be worth a trip up there for fish AND snails Thanks!
  13. I want more longfin pink danios, and magenta mystery snails. I can get the danios if I make a trip up to Edmonton as aquarium central has them. But its hard to find someone who will ship the snails from the US, and I couldn't find any in Canada. It probably wouldn't be worth it it seems just for those two things, but I just thought I would check! Thanks for the info!
  14. Has anyone ordered fish from Thailand or another such country? Did you use a Transhipper? or did you need permits of some sort to send it directly to you? Any recomended companies? Any other info?
