  1. I usually leave multiple sponge filters in the tanks with my breeders in well cycled tanks. Once the female is ready to be seperated, I take her out at night and put her into a smaller tank along with the sponge filter that has collected a good bio load already from the main tank. She remains in the smaller tank with no light until she spits her fry. The female then gets put into another tank for a few days by herself to eat and replenish herself before being adding back to the main tank. I have never had a problem with fry doin it this way but then again these are with mouth broaders and Im not sure if yours are or not. Allan
  2. I still have my breeding group of F1 yellow labs from Kyle (African fever). I have had some succesful spawns in the past and have given the fry to family and friends and their yellow labs grew up with amazing colors as well. I haven't kept any fry lately, I just let them spit in the tank as I don't have the time to raise fry atm. These yellow labs I have are beautiful, I have yet to see any labs come close to them in pet stores or anywhere for that matter. Be picky when you chose them, Im sure fairdeal has some nice ones although I haven't seen them personally, I have bought some other species from him and was very pleased. Right now im experimenting with two different bloodlines of Dolphins. Have about 30 altogether growing out. Also 2 different bloodlines of Yellow Jakes, about 14 growing out. I plan to breed these in the future, as well as others. Allan
  3. Just bbs? or ground up flake? or ground up NLS? I use ground up NLS, but either of these is fine. I would also remove the left over food in that tank. Allan
  4. some nice fish there Doc! Great pics as well.
  5. :welcome: Everything listed below
  6. Very nice stock you have Gina. Awesome pics Patrick! Allan
  7. From the pic it is very hard to determine the exact size of the fish. My guess is that it is between 2-3 weeks old. Sometimes the females can hold small batches especially if its their first time and may not be very noticable. More than likely your female had more than 1 fry and the rest are either hiding in the rockwork you have or became food for the adults. Allan
  8. Nice set up and Discus! Are those Blue Diamonds? Any luck breeding them?
