  1. Do you see Neochromis sp. "madonna" on any lists?
  2. Just wondering how people are doing it... Do you treat fish with meds when you get them? how long quarantine?
  3. Anyone have or seen any blind cave fish for sale?
  4. Just wondering where you have found the best deals? online or stores? on prime 2l and 4l.
  5. I think it was hassey lake out past spruce grove had to be limed to kill all fish species because someone dumped stikkleback in the lake.. also in stalbert they have some pond next to the big lake they want to lime because they dont want a species to get into big lake sturgeon river... also in banff there is a hotspring that people put tropical fish in... they put extinct the native fish that were there... I would be totally pissed if they had to lime my lake because someone thouught it would be cool to raise pike then decide to get rid of them in the closest lake when they get to big
  6. Is this a store fish club?? calgary ... AA ""?? etc?
  7. No, not necessarily. The problem with cases of "wasting disease" is rarely are lab cultures taken, or necropsies performed to ascertain exactly what caused the fishes demise. Years back when I was a mod on cichlid-forum I ran into the symptoms that you describe on a weekly basis, but exactly what triggered this symptom in each fish was impossible to say. Some cases could be fish TB, some could have been parasites, and others perhaps an unknown strain of bacteria. Your fish is eating normally so we should be able to rule out internal parasites, that leaves bacterial, or viral. I would recommend treating the infected fish with Kanamycin sulfate. It's a broad spectrum antibiotic that treats both gram positive & gram negative bacteria. http://www.novalek.com/aquavet/kanamycin.htm http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/KanaPlex.html Be prepared for the worse, many fish simply don't react positively to any form of medication once the disease has become too advanced. Good luck! Where would you purchase these products?
  8. Why does it matter if the fish are in the same region as angelfish? I do not understand this thinking.. Unless the fish are wild caught and you plan on adjusting the water.. They are all swimming in treated or aged tap water? They were most likely born into tap water. Discus usually are in adjusted tap water I can see but.... I think it is more about temperment of the fish you are combining, and the ability of all fish to be able to get at food in the tank..
  9. I have not seen any spencer jack orders of late. Has this fallen out of favor? Or am I just missing it?
  10. Is this tank cycled? running with some fish in it... a filter from another tank that is running moved to it??
  11. I bought mine off an online Vet medicine store,,, A lil goes along ways.... http://www.agrilabs.com/locator.aspx this is the brand name..... I will see if I can find where I bought it from try fendbendazole/flubendazole though it works best when administered in food. the big benefit to levamisole is it works as a bath..but remember it must be dosed at least twice. levimisole is not discontinued but rather some ingredient is unavailable ...or not able to pass regulations.. so they are not currently producing it
  12. There are so many differing opinions on what a proper QT is... And If one should medicate fish in a QT tank even without illness ... Some Examples of what some of our members do would be interesting.
