  1. Ryan we love the sword case it is BEAUTIFUL!
  2. What I would do if I were you is add another filter, once the second filter has been added wait one month then clean the first filter, wait one more month then clean out the newer filter... You can never have enough filtration on a tank. Stability is an excellent product, as well as Prime. I use one cap full of prime per water change in my 55 gal tank. Then I put in 5 capfulls of stability with every filter cleaning. You can also add if you do not have already and air stone or strip to add oxigen to the tank. Before repopulating your tank, wait until you have completed several water changes. Also ensure the current fish do not become ill. I am sorry to hear about your losses... I have had many as well...
  3. He looks like the cobalts I had as well. They seem to range in blue coloration, I had some that were very dark blue and some like your guy... I obtained mine from Spensor Jack and from another supplier. Lana
  4. Congrats on your new four legged family family members! They are adorable and will for sure keep you on the move!!! As for farm dogs getting all sorts of virus'... we have lived on our farm for 9 years never had a problem with parvo nor have our dogs ever been sick. Right now I have a dog with a broken toe but no illness. City kennels can have this misfortune happen to them too. Regardless of where the pups came from they should be given their first booster at 6 wks and again at 12 wks then they are good for a year. Also ensure they are wormed annually. Enjoy their baby breath and kisses! Actually I came back on here to say someone posted some main coons cheap today...LMAO...always thinking of my friends :smokey:
  5. I would not purchase a healer if you live in town. They are a working dog and require a venue to use up their energy. Cross breds are nice in ways as they are not as prone to breed specific diseases. However there is no way to trace their lineage either. We have a border collie 75% x great pyr 12.5% x Newf 12.5 % he is the best dog ever, super easy to train and loves people. His down side he would not make a good in town type dog, because of his working lineage he requires a good source of excercise which a fenced yard or or daily walks would not be enough for him. So he runs with our poodles and great pyr's. He chases coyotes all night long and plays during the day ... You do need to make the decision of where to get the dog but that is entirely up to you as it is very much a personal opinion as to where you feel comfortable. Also where your finances will allow. Research and research some more for the best option for you.
  6. You need to get what your heart tells you. Look around be very picky. The one that steals your heart and gives you that totally aweeeee I gotta have him/her then that is the pet for you. google the breeds you are interested in, the one that sounds the best and most fitting to your family probably is. If you get a kitten and a puppy at the same time you can have both. Our dogs get along with all of our cats... The little poodles always check up on the kittens to ensure they are okay. They would also keep each other company while you are away at work.
  7. Oh and if you buy off of kijiji see if the poster has other ad's, some puppy mills have several ad's. I purchased off of kijiji a wonderful great pyr pup, she said he is purebred, had him breed dna'd they say he is purebred, but he has color... but OMG he is wonderful. We have two toy poodles, one great pyr purebred adult dog and one great pyr/newf/border collie x and that is a fantastic smart as a whip dog too. We live on a farm and we have trained our poodles to get on the deck when there is a car and they do not come down until they here the click of the car being put into park. I trained them like that because my 13 year old hines 57 was run over.. he was going blind and his hearing was impared but I swore that it would never happen again.... Shepherds are fantastic guard dogs and great family pets. Very smart too. I wont adopt from the SPCA or puppy mills. The reason why I wont from the SPCA is because I did that once, I adopted a healer cross, but there was something wrong with her... I think she was beat so much that she was so nervous she couldn't stop puking or having diahhrea, the spca would not help me with her and in the end I put her down. I felt so bad for her and could not imagine how she felt always being sick. I know she was beat because when you would go to pet her she would totally cower... she slept with me in my bed and I tried so hard with her... all tests that I had down came back negative... I was young and didn't know what else to try.
  8. Why only pick one, shoot get a shepherd pup and a cat... I have tons of cats and some good dogs.. you would think I would be healthy as a horse...oh yeah got some of them too... There was a main coon cross offered for sale not long ago on kijiji. There are also lots of shepherd pups on there right now. Husky's will wonder if not kept in a fenced yard... Never had Beagle so no idea what they are like.
  9. They look AWESOME!!! I can see why you would be impressed with them. Congrats on your new scaled family members!
  10. I agree with what is said, she is stressed and needs to be moved to a quiet tank. I would also add stability and a bit of salt to her water just to help her through it. I had a couple of frontosa's do that and didn't realize they were stressed, then I noticed one of the other fish picking on them, so I moved them they immediately went to the bottom of the tank and have not been to the top gasping since. I put aquarium salt and some stabiity into the tank and now have added more fronts, loaches, synodontis and auloncara and all are doing great.
  11. I wonder if he could of banged his eye on something that caused it to pop or swell. I had a cobalt blue female that I think got the tar smacked out of her by a pleco, not sure. But when we woke up she was bleeding, both eyes sticking out... I added some salt to the water, did a good water change, but some stability in and she is all better. Her eyes are normal again, and any swelling her body had and disturbed scales are all normal looking again. Hope your fish heals quickly for you. Lana
  12. I would also go with two filters. I really like the white and black mixed together. It brings out the colors on your fish and looks sharp together. I also like simple black... the black to me is what brings out the fishes true beauty...JMO.. I obtained my sand from mops, it is a cichlid formula and has live bacteria on it, to help with the cycling of a new tank... They have other formula's there as well that also have live bacteria on them...
  13. What are loaches like with cichlids? I have African cichlids. Also where did you purchase them?
  14. I have not owned loaches before either, but was told that most loaches will not control the mts population due to their hard shell. I was told the only way to get rid of them is to clean out the tank literally... and start fresh... I have also read to use some form of copper, but I am unsure if there is a product safe for fish... What do you sculp? I am a horse lover too, I have as of this morning 21 beautiful horses. I am expecting a new arrival any day... We will see she is racing with another mare...LOL
  15. I had in my 120gal tank before it went belly up. Electric Yellows Dolphins Deep Water Haps Frontosa's Lemon Jakes This was a nice mixture of fish they all got along very well. I had demonsoni's in my tank before and they were just to agressive, I also found that the Salousi would cross breed with my electric yellows... The above cross is what worked for me the best.
