  1. Im budgeting for under 15K so I guess 15 would be peanuts compared to. So what brand MH is good? That german brand giesmann is costly. Looking to do a topless style, so no canopy, pendant style prefferred, how would i work t5 actinics into that? And moonlighting?
  2. Delving into the saltwater world, with a faily largish setup. Looking to go for a 84 or 96x24x24, end panel overflow plus a closed loop, with piping to a separate fish room in the basement, 3 pumps, 2 heaters w/controllers, separate refugium and sump. Looking for advice on lighting, stuck btw MH and T5's, eventually want to graduate ot a mixed reef, really concerned about all the wattage for teh equipment and electricity bills!

Thanks for the tips so far. I dont use prime/dechlorinator, hence aged water.

For the sump, can't holes be drilled in the side or back of the tank at desired water level for the bulkhead and return? Do you know anybody that has retrofitted a glass aquarium?

    Moving advice

I'll be moving a 120 gal fresh water tank with livestock and various canister and HOB filters. Know of any movers with experience moving such setups? When the day comes, I plan on: 1. draining some aquarium water into rubbermaid totes, and placing livestock and filters (running) in them 2. emptying most of the tank 3. having aged water at point B to replace all the aquarium water 4. transport tank and fill with aged water 5. transport livestock/filters 6. acclimate livestock at new location My concern is that I am basically doing a 100% water change and adding livestock into this water. Will everything be ok in terms of a mini cycle or losing livestock? Also, I want to do a sump type system, and my main question is are cutting holes for drain/bulkhead and return advisable (tempered glass on bottom only)? And can the holes be cut with livestock in the tank? Advice would be much appreciated.

  10. My 2 trapdoor snails had a bunch of babies, last time this happened they bit the dust one after the other Dont want that to happen again, how do i raise them in terms of food to feed, do i isolate them in a breeders net etc.

  12. I have the professional II, how many times do y'all owners replace the filter floss/year? Right now am doing it 2x/year. Also, is the wet/dry version any better?
