  1. Lol, wow, this thread was a 'rebirth'. Im sure someone else will benefit from it though! I dont think Parachromis1 was suggesting NLS was a bad food(it is, infact, a good food). Sure, NLS will fatten the fish up if it chooses to eat it... but higher protein/fatty acid food like frozen will probably be more readily accepted and build weight a little quicker than prepared food, thats all?
  2. EBJD are definetly cool critters! Kaiote: Good luck with yours! Hope its still doing well!
  3. Copy that, sponge filter all the way!
  4. JBJ is the same company that makes nano-cubes. They should be a reasonable quality heater. 1000W is way overkill for a 170g tank though. You dont want to install a heater that is capable of cooking the tank. I'd look at 500W element maximum, or two 300W units individually. The idea of getting any heater with a separated controller is great. These are much more accurate and reliable, and more fail-safe than the traditional heaters. Also, you are in calgary... I bet you can find a decent controllable heater in town for much cheaper than ordering one off MarineDepot! Hope this helps!
  5. Awesome job! Im about to start a plywood build myself to test a new sealant, as a trial run for a bigger tank! The 'box' looks good, and the contents too!
  6. I really like your distribution of colour, fish-wise, in the tank! Awesome! And nice julidochromis transcriptus I think??? !
  7. Wow, this is very nice! Great job! I wish I could put this much effort into making a nice planted, haha!
  8. This came a long ways! Congratulations! It looks fantastic!
