  1. I also found drilling a tank to be very simple and also used the Princess Auto diamond bit. I did 2 or 3 test holes (on old tank I was throwing away) and 3 holes on the main tank, no real sign of wear on the bit. The only down side to the Princess Auto is that it comes without the central hub or spindle; which you have to buy separate (or may match yours if you already have a hole saw for wood). The extra piece was also cheap but the problem is that it is not a tight fit to the bit. If you are not careful this leaves the bit not centered so it doesn't spin in a clean circle. It only takes a half minute to 'visually' center it and retighten so not a real problem, just something to be aware of ahead of time. Darrell
  2. I had one I purchased in Nov 2010. As I didn't want the hassle of calling Marineland, sending in for replacement etc. I just went to LFS where I bought it and they gave me credit of what I paid towards a different heater. I went with the Rena (300W), even though it is discontinued, as it is small for the wattage and un breakable. Darrell

I have been using Reefkeeper Lite from Digital Aquatics. The cheapest config ($100 - 120 price range) come with controller unit, one temp probe and a 4 outlet (controlled) power bar. I love it. Plug the heater into power bar, program Reefkeeper to turn on that plug when Temp (from supplied probe) drops below 'X' value. I bought the base package and an extra power bar and am using to control lighting, heaters, sump pump, skimmer and power heads (has a wave feature). You can add other modules & probes for things like PH, salinity, orp, float switches etc., but Reefkeeper Lite is limited to 4 modules (1 power bar = 1 module), they have an Elite version if you need more. Web site for them is www.digitalaquatics.com. Darrell
  4. I know you already have the TDS meter but for future reference or for others who are looking, I saw the Hana handheld ( I think they have inline as well) at Ocean City in Calgary in the $30 range. I imagine they would also carry the calibration fluids. Darrell...
