Interesting Pattern On "bn" Pleco
SuperGuppyGirl replied to SuperGuppyGirl's topic in Bottom Of The Barrel
Dammit I hope not, the bristles are all overy the face so pretty sure male but damn -
Purchased both from AC (from mixed BN tank) but one has a interesting pattern and a chubby body whereas the other looks like a regular BN female. Chubby one is believed to be male with bristles all over face, so not egg bound. Chubbiness not from parasites as I medicated to be sure. Any ideas?

Crenicara Punctulatum Advice
SuperGuppyGirl replied to SuperGuppyGirl's topic in S/A & C/A cichlids.
Hoping to breed them so I can see the gender change lol As for habrosus, aquarium central has them in as salt and pepper corys for fairly cheap, only place I know of -
Crenicara Punctulatum Advice
SuperGuppyGirl replied to SuperGuppyGirl's topic in S/A & C/A cichlids.
Thanks gentlemen. Currently running a eheim 2028(seeding) and a eheim 2215, ph normally sits at 6.8, TDS is at 265ppm, but no idea on other numbers as i just overhauled tank for them yesterday. giving it a chance to settle first with the deep clean i did on substrate. Ill be adding some alder cones and IAL shortly, and has several pieces of driftwood, moderately planted (slowly adding as damn things expensive). -
Looking for more info or advice on these little beauties especially spawning tips. Basically all I could find was : Scientific Name: Crenicara punctulatum Common name: Checkerboard Cichlid, Hercules Cichlid Type: Fresh water fish Family: Cichlidae Origin zone: South America Origin: guyana, brazil, ecuador, peru Max length: 12 cm Temperature: 23 - 25 C pH: 5.5 - 6.5 gH: 5 - 8 Water flow: Medium flowing water Preferred tank level: Bottom-Middle

I've kept crypts, swords, vals , anubias and Java fern with calvus and xenos with no issues. But not really diggers and are straight carnivores but my experience might be the exception not the norm

Hello LF xenotilapia bathyphilus blue lips, pic in link, any chance you have these? http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?/topic/45668-lf-xenotilapia-bathyphilus-blue-lips/

I managed to find some more at a dollar store but thinking I'm going to add more barnacles too as they seem to enjoy going in and out of all the connecting holes.
-
I just sifted the sand in their old tank to clean out some snails and found 4 buried. Damn corys are cheaper lol
-
Moved from 10G to 15G. Hoping they like barnacles as shells are ridiculous priced.
-
Alberta has adopted a similar list, I posted previously snapped at lfs.
-
Aquarium Central has both for cheap lol couple bucks each.
