  1. as long as before it starts to leak! hah Long time but look if the silicone still has good hold or not. If it feels like it is starting to peal away then give that a go to reseal.
  2. From the picture they look to be a common species. As said people at canreef will tell you exactly what it is.
  3. Any of the common nutrient gravels can be used. Personally the Flourite brand I find better long term than the 'soil' type substrates like ada and stratum. It's more stable in the water over a period of time as well as it won't spike the water as other 'soil type' substrates.
  4. Not sure myself as there are so many different types. The polyps in the 2nd picture look quite interesting was there a picture of them open? Suggest to also try another Canadian forum but dedicated to saltwater folk. Canreef.com People there are just like here...friendly and who are happy to help out.
  5. here too http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?/topic/45231-do-these-work/ I say nearly 100% gimmick.
  6. not even close. i wired up the entire 5m length, side by side with no space and did nothing against t5 it can be done of course but need to spend more cash on high power chips than a basic strip. suggest to grab individual chips and wire them together seems like you'll get more power out of that than these types of strips.
  7. did a setup like that and it was crap i'd only use it as a closet light and would not use it to grow any plant if dyi led is wanted for plant then high W chips are needed which will cost more $
  8. Don't have but not fond of gimmicks. Keep the tank in balance and there should be zero algae issues.
  9. If you don't want, smoosh them against the glass with your finger. Fish will have some free protein snacks.

    Hello

Hello and welcome to AA. I don't do much fish however in regards for plants if you had questions, always happy to offer advice.
  11. Hello and welcome to AA.
  12. Hello and welcome to AA...very true.
  13. Good tank rlyster. do you run gas or liquid co2?
  14. had that .info issue as well. retested and seems clean for now.
  15. Shut the guy down a few weeks back. The new creation with this 6gal tank is a hc/moss wall type effect.
  16. Had the tank/light/power heads, just needed the sand/rock/salt and some critters. The lot cost less than $150 and it was up and running well for roughly 3 years before I shut it down. easy peasy http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=39714
  17. Reef is what you want to put into it. Easily can spend 10k however you can have a salt tank for under $100.
  18. watch the fizz, watch your eyes, watch the fumes...only work outdoors or if indoors on use small...a few ml quantities at a time
  19. Thought the egg were always closer to the tail. Nice to know!
