  1. That sounds perfect! Here are two pictures http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzUwWDEwMDA=/$T2eC16V,!y0E9s2S65dnBR(QBqv(q!~~48_35.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAwMFg3NTA=/$T2eC16Z,!yEE9s5jGJo)BR(QDkcFJg~~48_35.JPG They arent the greatest pictures so I'll give you some links to some pictures that look like him http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f6/Bopleco2.JPG/250px-Bopleco2.JPG https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRCC2exDKfCdQUp1jUAqa0QSuqcIbxbHKhcDEwk2bZr0CB7jOHn7g https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTzVeQtUZoz4wl0nyikjU5UKYaCrob5l7rNwgSqVVHFy4vfMy4WSg The last one is a full size I think, Mines not quite that big. I hope you like him and I hope you will give him a chance
  2. I have my 8" sail fin pleco (I believe thats what kind he is anyway) in my 75 gallon discus aquarium. I've had him for five years (one of my first ever fish) so I'm attached to him. He's only that big because he lived in a 20 gallon until early last year, I was a newb when I bought him. But I've spent a lot of money on my discus/plants/sand, pretty much everything. He strips my plants and scares my Discus. I changed my whole tank just for my Discus and it sucks that after all of that work, he scares them by following them (I'm assuming it's a territorial thing.) so, with all of that, I think it's time to find him a more suitable home with even more room and lots of algae to snack on. I don't even want to try local petstores because they are so careless in who they sell plecos to. Are there any big time aquarium places that may be looking for algae eaters/ cool fish to show? Or even people with huge aquariums that have gravel/a heavier substrate? (The poop sucks up easier in gravel because it breaks up in between the rocks). He eats all of the leftover food in the tank too. I'd love to find him a great home, he's beautiful, and p.s, his name is Johnny
  3. It's called a deformity because it isn't "normal", it doesn't mean they are in any kind of pain for one. Secondly, they are actually quite cute and they come to greet you when you walk in the room. They eat just fine with their mouths and they are actually quite stunning in colour. And I bought him because he was sick (petsmart is horrible in my town) and I nursed him back to health and now he's big and gorgeous. And thanks fishman 35
  4. Thanks they get along just fine. They all act like a group
  5. I don't buy wild fish, I'll save fish from a pet store but I won't be apart of taking them from the wild. But I agree, they are beautiful
  6. Also, I added plants to my aquarium and have a DIY co2 system, wondering where I can get a co2 reader
  7. It's not that I hate the peppering (mine have a little because they're pb) but if they have a ton of it, it's a bad thing. And even knowing what I know now, I still would have bought my discus, they are looking so good now and have definately filled out, I consider it a rescue but I'm definately going to check out aquarium central, I want to get two more to form a good solid group. Thanks everyone for your help
  8. Do you know if Aquarium Illusions sells Discus? I've only just recently heard of that store so I don't know. And also I agree with you about Big Als, their tanks are in serious need of cleaning and their larger discus were horribly covered in peppering, not the natural peppering but the heavy kind they get when put in bad water. I didn't have a huge need to quarentine them as I bought the Angelfish from the same place on the same day so there was only a Pleco in there at the time. I've been trying hard to keep up with water changes and feedings, I'm also trying garlic because it kills most parasites that Discus carry, except for one that I can't remember the name of. I just don't want any die offs because they are crazy expensive
  9. I wish I bought Discus sooner, they are cool :)

  10. I just bought four (only four because they are the only ones that looked healthy in the whole store) Discus from Big als aquarium. They are about three or four inches. it turns out at least two of them are stunted. And one of the other ones might have gill flukes (breathing out of one gill is the only symptom). Unfortunately I bought pigeon bloods, which is bad because I'm a beginner with discus and the pigeon bloods don't turn black when they're sick so it's hard to know when something's wrong. Anyway, I read that stunted discus can still grow to full size if water changes and feedings are kept up. I'm hoping this is true. So I'd like to know if I'm doing everything right. They are in a 75 gallon with a pleco and (there were two angelfish that I bought from there the ame day but one died overnight without symptoms) angelfish. They have two power filters (aqua clear 110 and aqueon 75). The temp is 30°C. I do a 25% water change every day, I feed them several times a day including tropical flakes, Beefheart mixture, plankto,n and hikari bio gold plus. Oh and Ammonia is 0 Nitrite 0 and Nitrate are betwen 10 and 20. Any tips or input would be appreciated
  11. I have a blood parrot, he's very peaceful towards any fish 2" and bigger. Which is great because there are a few danios in the tank with him. I was wanting more information on blood parrots. I know they're a crossbreed, I know they usually have black blotches when they're young until they fully develope colour, I know some of them are dyed and it's a cruel proccess, I know most are infertile, I know they naturally are orange, red, or yellow, I know they can reach up to 10", I know about their mutated mouths and spines. But I read that they dye the white ones, does that mean there are naturally occurring white parrots, or do people somehow take their orange colour out so they are easier to dye? Might be a dumb question but I know people have white parrots, yet every website I read say the natural colours are red, yellow, and orange. I'm confused lol Also, what kinds of fish can live with them? I heard angels can because they are of similar temperment, but I don't know personally.
  12. I am brand new to this forum and am happy to find one based in Alberta I have a 75 gallon aquarium with 1 Blood Pigeon, 1 Flamingo, 1 Turquoise, 2 Blue Diamond Discus a Black Angelfish, and an 8" Sail fin pleco. I also have a 20 gallon with a male Betta, platies, guppies, neons, an oto, and a dwarf orange lobster. The pictures aren't the best but they give you an idea of the setups Looks fuzzy because I took it with Iphone
