  1. I'm a little confused - my angels just paired off (2 koi) but they're letting a third one into their corner while the two pearlscale are being chased away. This is the first time they're laying eggs. I'm assuming I have two males looking after their lady? Anyone else have a breeding trio? Thinking of setting up a breeding tank to move them into but I'm not sure who to move?
  2. This started as a white area on his body, somewhat circular, now it's an open area and the other fish appear to be picking at it. He appears healthy otherwise, acting normally. NO2 and NO3 levels are good. Trying to add a picture but not sure how. I don't have a hospital tank set up at the moment. Any idea what I can do or how I can identify what's going on? Thanks
  3. I have a 50gal tank that was drilled for a sump. Apparently it is sealed but I'm not sure how well. Should I take it in to have it done professionally or can I do it myself?
  4. Well, it's supposed to go into a hospital lounge - I think it would help people who are waiting to pass the time and if we have any long term residents or dementia patients it would give them something to look at. That's why I was hoping to find a bigger set-up but may opt for something smaller....and as we all know our great health care system these days, not sure there will be much if anything in the budget for such a thing. It'll probably all come out of my own pocket (which is also very limited!) but as most of us I'm excited to have found another place to keep a fish tank :-)
  5. hi everyone, I'm thinking of setting up an aquarium at work in a waiting area. Probably nothing too big (20-55gal) as I have to do the water changes by buckets (no water source close by). Any suggestions on what fish to put in there? I'll only sparesly populate it to keep the uptake to a minimum and no real plants (at least not yet). Preferably hardy fish. I was thinking maybe a couple of angelfish, a BN pleco, some other bottom dwellers. Any suggestions? Then I'll also have to try and look for some donations or cheap deals on tank/stand/filter/heater/fish (got decorations). If anyone know of any, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks
  6. Hi Harold, thanks for the nice looking fish. The synodontis are doing well and the BN pleco is amazing at cleaning the tank! Less than a week and my tank has no algae left! Any suggestions on what to feed the pleco that the cichlids won't eat?

  7. Thanks, if they do turn yellow, should I try to move them to a separate tank, do they need frequent water changes, do you have to add anything else to the water, what do you feed when they hatch, etc? We weren't expecting this so I need all the info I can get!
  8. No, no snails in the tank, just 3 parrot fish and a couple of clown loaches
  9. Just got three parrot fish last week and now two seem to be protecting the back corner of the tank that has little white round things stuck to the wall. Could those be eggs? Or should I be concerned about something else?
  10. Just wondering if anyone has clown loaches and african cichlids (an electric blue hab and possible another hab) together in one tank? It's a 55gal tank, the loaches are about 2" or so and hiding most of the time....want to add a bit of color and have was thinking of putting those two in there as they get picked on in my other tank. Otherwise, what's a good combination with clown loaches for that size tank? Thanks
  11. Who are you talking to? Sorry, it seemed clear when I wrote it....I was talking to you tydus (or anyone else out there actually that has flamebacks and that may be willing to part with one of their males)
  12. just wondering where abouts you're located and how much you would want for one of the males? I've been looking to get my hands on one.....
  13. Any idea where one could find such flameback for sale?
