    Hey!

Welcome Davis. Being a newbie myself, I have found this forum an invaluable tool of insight. Once hooked by fish (haha) it can lead to multi-tank syndrome and trying all sorts of things to keep these loveable pets happy.
  2. Incredible!! Your footage belongs on Animal Planet etc.
  3. LOL Yah multiple tank syndrome may have just begun. I only meant to start and have one tank. But my heart has a hard time disposing of little lives.... Proactively making sure the eggs don't hatch, may be the way. I have dropped the temp from 79F to 78F and will drop it to 77F. I have also found a fellow member willing to take some of the existing little guys!!
  4. My Blue Gouramis are constantly spawning, which was great at first to see the whole process of growing fry etc. I have upgraded so I now have two tanks to help keep some of the population alive. I am wondering what other members do to deal with this issue of ongoing breeding?? Any suggestions would be helpful, since I only started my first tank in September!!
  5. Does anyone with Mystery Snails know what is going on?? I had two Ivory Mystery Snails in a 5G and two weeks ago they appeared to be mating! I will call the small snail a female and the large snail a male. So, one week ago I noticed that the female had become lethargic and was not eating. (she would not even drop back into the water when I was doing water changes.) I thought she was dead or dying twice and almost made the mistake of removing her from the tank. Yesterday, I transferred her tank mates (male snail, 2 African dwarf frogs) into a cycled 10G, left her in the 5G and dropped the water level 1" below the rim. This morning there is tissue residue and floating bubbles near the surface and she is laying dead like underneath the area. Is this a failed attempt to create an egg cone, or is she actually ill and perhaps dying??? Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Hello

Hello everyone! Am I ever glad to have found this Alberta based forum. I am a newbie to both the aquarium hobby and using forums. This is the first ever forum I have wanted to join because of my growing love of keeping fish. I started in October with a 20G glass tank - 2 Blue Gourami (turned out to be a male and female), 2 Yo-Yo Loaches (one black/white, one gold like), and 1 moss ball. In December I started a 5G tank- 2 Ivory Mystery Snails, and 2 African Dwarf Frogs. I am now thinking of starting a 55G with an Oscar...hmmm a work in progress??? Well my Gourami's have been very busy and produced 2 hatches. I have become very attached to my new pets and want to do the best I can for them. This forum has a wealth of information and many experienced people that I look forward to knowing.
