  1. I did a test today before doing a 15% water change Ammonium was 0, Nitirte was 0 and Nitrate was 10-20, The pH was around 7.6, my community tank consists of some angels, gouramis and red lined torpedo barbs. I know that most of these species prefer a more neutral pH of around 6.8-7.2, should I worry if it is a little high? I am going to do another test tomorrow to see if it changed after the water change. I will also check my tapwater.
  2. Weird, I have two golden and three opaline with one pearl in my 75 gallon, the opaline seems to chase the golden more than the golden does. They leave the pearl alone, I also have twon angels and 5 desonnii barbs in the tank as well.
  3. I have both pearl and golden in my tank, however, my tank is a 75 gallon. In my experience I find that the golden gouramis are more aggressive than the pearls. I would suggest going with a pair of pearl gouramis rather than the goldens. Dwarf gouramis like the powder blue, honey or flame may also be a good choice. Hope this helps.
  4. 75Gallon with gravel After with sand
  5. I am looking to switch my 75 gallon tank to a plant substrate rather than gravel. What kind of effect would this have on my fish? Do i have to take them out of the tank or can I do the swap on the fly?
  6. Big Al's in edmonton had some nice deals on bare tanks, $125 for a 90 gall, but then you have to buy all the extra's if you dont have.
  7. I do like the look of the fluval's but the price p;oint may be a bit much to start off with. Thanks.
  8. I have had a few issues with ich as well but because I have some "scaless" fish eclipse/sun catfish and clown pleco I never used salt to treat ich. What I found that worked best was bumping the temp. of the tank to 86 deg. or so for 10 days. The increase in temp. helps speed up the cycle and hopefully stops the reproduction of the parasite in your tank. I also did 25% water changes every second day. Hope this helps.
  9. I was thinking of getting my son a 3-5 gallon all in one desk aquarium for Christmas. Any suggestions on which tanks are good. The tank will be a tropical tank with 2 molly's, zebra danio and black skirt tetra from larger tank.

    New Here

Fairly new to hobby, find it quite relaxing. Recently upgraded from 30g to 75g planted. I am learning so much from this forum and others like it and look forward to possibly starting another project.
