  1. I have learned some expensive lessons! Small clown loaches and bichirs dont mix... Tight fitting lids with weight! I had a two foot gar jump out the other day now found him behind the tank. thought he was a gonner till I picked him up. Had to rinse off the cat hair and toss him back in and he is fine but it really looked like he had been out a while, his belly was red? I have had a few losses. lost a stingray pup, no matter what I could not get him to eat and he slowly starved. I feel really badly about this! Lost a tiger cat last week that wouldnt eat. Just need to pick a big tank and focus I think. once you start with too many tanks its hard to micromanage each one (at least for me) I will be looking into a plywood tank once we buy a house (this spring) But for now limited to what I can find used which is either WAYYY over priced or snapped up!
  2. All fish outgrew the tank! The two needle gar were killed by the arowana, arowana was moved to a 180 with sting rays and she jumped out last week. Rays ate one of the bala sharks. Gar was traded for two Paroon sharks. and the bichirs outgrew the tank as well. Was only really meant as a grow out at the time. however recently I have been focused on cutting down on the overall number of tanks and going larger!
  3. Let me know how you get on! I am picking up a 15 gal and plan to start a small reef
  4. What Cully said is the exact same thing I have found.. it wouldnt be safe to use tap water to run a drip system. and it would be just as bad to use RO water. So you would either have to figure out how to constantly dose your tanks OR pretreat your own water and store it... and unless you have that kind of space (Who does) its a massive waste of time. Even setting up something that would automatically drain each tank, turn the tap on and dose with prime would be a massive nightmare just for ONE tank let alone multiple tanks. however it could be done easier if they were plumbed together? I dont think it is possible!
  5. I dont know about 6" but I know home depot carries 11/4" Sched 40 Clear PVC
  6. Trade for a standard 4' 75 gallon and metal stand?
  7. Well apparently either I am a little challenged or photobucket has some problems... more pics to come when I figure it out
  8. Well folks the fish room is slowly shaping up here at the new place. Naturally it was the first room to get setup! So I am on the hunt for tanks, filters and other goodies etc! Here is some of the livestock so far
  9. Hey there, How difficult is it to get these bad boys sent up to edmonton?
  10. Sometimes you can find some decent stock, I dont frequent them often. But you can sometimes get much better prices. My Bala Sharks (Large) Came from Petsmart on 17th street. I got them for $12 each whereas at Big Als ones quite a bit smaller were $50?! Same story with the electric blue crayfish.
  11. those are some big suckers! I know I struggled a bit getting my Hujita juvenile to eat anything. started small with bloodoworms now crushed krill. Getting there! hes only about 2-3" long
  12. Thank you! Very excited to get to know a few people and learn some more stuff! All this is very interesting!!!
  13. Everything is better overkill! Tanks, filtration and lights
