Looking For A Place To Buy Substrate
DeepArow replied to WickedOdie's topic in General Aquaria Discussion
You can always look into tropica Aquasoil......I saw it the other day and will be trying it out in the next month. The price is a fraction of the ones you have listed. And being one of the larger aquarium plant suppliers in the industry I'd hope tropica creates a decent product... -

Awesome, that should help for my big project! Do they force you to do minimum orders? -

Ya I thought about getting garbage tanks and doing a rebuild but it would take a lot of hunting to find the sizes I'm looking for and cut them to what I want. Also fish girl I've been looking for cast acrylic but can't find anything as thick as I need in Alberta..... -
Thanks so much. Headed to Calgary next weekend so I'll stop in and see what larger pieces they have for my 300g.

I have an old Hagen 55g that's probably pushing 30 or more years. Knock on wood but I've never had an issue with it. Seals look better than many of the newer aquariums I've purchased!

Where did you get the driftwood? I have been struggling to find anything remotely that size

Thanks elf! -
Joey at kingofdiy or whatever recommends using carbon and says it lasts forever because of how slow the drip generally is

Hey everyone, Just want your opinions on fish stores in western Canada. It seems like we have 3 kinds of stores; the chains, the stores that open and close within 2-3 years, and the staple stores which have extremely loyal customer bases but seem to slowly be closing shop as time goes on. Looking around it seems even some chains are reducing livestock inventory. Is the market that saturated? Are they all losing that much business to private sales (Facebook, kijiji, etc) and group orders? What in your opinion keeps you loyal to your local fish store? Or do you shop around and buy from whoever has the cheapest livestock?

Hey guys, just a question since I'm fairly unfamiliar with lilies. Is it possible to grow them year round indoors? What species of Lilly generally does the best? I'm thinking in a 300 gal indoor pond with t5 plant lights. -
I might need to move to Saskatchewan for a few years to buy some fry off you lol

Question, did you import them yourself or purchase through a fs?

No grandfather that I know of unfortunately. But no one has ever been to give me what the definitive punishment is for ownership either.
