  1. I bought a 48x12x18 from the Bargain Finder a cuople of years ago with a metal stand, don't know if it was a custom size. I just bought a 180 gallon from Golds and was told it had a one year warranty.
  2. I changed a 45 from gravel to sand once. I drained half the water. Then used a seive to collect the gravel. Turned off the filters for an hour while I put in the sand. All the while the fish (about seven) were in there. No problems but the gravel sure was dirty. That is why I may never go back to gravel. It looked clean but was not. i have only used pool filter sand so I cannot compare to regular.

Can't we vote for tan? I tried white in a 10 gallon. It showed too much crap. I tried black in a 33 gallon. Too dark and dismal for my liking.
  4. I guess maybe because of being unfamiliar with it. It seems like you lose tank space and I worry about set up and trouble shooting.
  5. If I want more suction I unhook it from the sink and stick it out the door or window. The lower level makes it run faster.
  6. So, by using the hair dryer you were able to soften the "horeshoe" shaped tube on one side so it would fit over the rim of the tank where the glass edge is?
  7. On a 2260, who has the best price or even carries it?
  8. Has anyone compared the Eheim 2217 witrh the XP3?
  9. Can't do. There is glass sticking out beyond the plastic. Not sure why, maybe reinforcing?
  10. Just got my 180 gallon and stand from Golds!! I was going to run an Eheim 2217 and two AC 500's (probably looking at 8 or 9 Frontosa but not sure yet). Golds suggested two AC 500's and a powerhead when I ordered the tank. I didn't want to go the sump routine. When I picked it up, I asked to buy two AC500's. Dennis told me they would not fit. It's true. They won't and there is a glass lip extending out from the plastic black trim making the whole lip almost two inches. Any suggestions on canisters? I own an Eheim 2217 and an Eheim 2213. Thought of maybe getting a second Eheim 2217 or Golds has XP3 I believe it is, for $170. That would make three canisters in there. I like canisters but kind of wanted some HOB filtration. 11. Unless the tank is in a freezing cold basement, the heater should be fine. I have a 125W EJager on a 33 gallon. The quantity of fish seems okay but someone else can comment on the mix.
  12. I keep six one- inch petricolas in my 45 gallon Malawi Blue Dolphin fry grow tank with no problems. The fry go there at about three weeks of age.
  13. I tried black sand in a 33 gal. with electric blue fry and found it too dark for me. I'm pretty comfortable with pool filter sand in tan. I just want ideas for the background and rock colour.
  14. I have checked there for two months and they only have frozen.
  15. I am getting a 180 gallon tank in two weeks (largest is a 90 at present). Looking for advice on background color and rock color for Mpimbwe Frontosa. I'll be using light brown Pool Filter sand. I've been using salmon colour and black colour rock in my 90 and like that but am open to suggestions. For background I was thinking black or very dark blue but again am open to suggestions. Any colours anyone has tried and hated?
  16. Where do you get the freeze dried cyclops?
  17. I'd consider myself an average "user." I'll ask a question once in a while and try to answer one every few days. I never posted anything about me on SAY HELLO and I rarely look there and respond. I don't know why I went here today?! That doesn't mean I'm not friendly or interested, I'd just rather discuss a real question rather than chit-chat.
  18. On my 90 gallon I use an Eheim 2217 and an AC500 and all is well. Since you don't want a HOB (A Clear) I'd say you need two cannister filters.
  19. Good luck - that is great. I bought six one-inch petricolas last month. They are cute and active. How big are yours and how fast do they grow?
  20. On my 90 gallon and 45 gallon I run one of each type but on my two 33's just one AC300 on each.
  21. I have a 45 gallon and run a small Aqua Clear along with an Eheim 2213. Befoe the Eheim I ran two AC300. That worked quite well with good circulation and a decent price.
  22. Welcome, welcome, Benperson. I think you know who the punman is.
  23. Any good sites out there devoted to catfish and bottom feeders?
  24. Looking for single tube three foot and four foot fixtures. Just basic at the best price.
  25. That is great- a lot of babies for the first go-around.
