  1. Hi, I am looking for brainstorming ideas on filtration for a fish rack. I will be consolidating my existing stand-alone tanks running HOBs and FX6/FX5 into tanks suitable for a rack and keeping planted discus, goldfish, and a divided shrimp tank primarily on it. It will be near my living room so noise levels should be minimal. Rack will be Husky 77"L x 24"W https://www.google.com/shopping/product/11132586973800395377?lsf=seller:6472097,store:6421897208254707720,lsfqd:0&prds=oid:5831625693435483271,hsec:specs&q=Husky 77-inch W x 24-inch D Industrial Strength Welded Storage Rack With Wire Deck in Black&hl=en&ei=od6NWtn_CtGqjQPlkq7wCw&lsft=gclid:EAIaIQobChMI3ePCkvS32QIVC0BpCh1Gsw63EAYYAyABEgJio_D_BwE Any suggestions or links are welcome! Thank you
  2. I am excited to announce the addition of a new product to my website... XL plastic air stones. They are 2" high by 1" wide and are weighted so they will stay down even in high air flow applications. The sections snap together and can be taken apart for easy cleaning. I am offering 20 packs of these air stones for $45 CAD including free shipping to Canada and the USA. All other countries pay $15 CAD shipping. Order here: http://stores.canadianaquafarm.com/xl-plastic-air-stones-20-pack-free-shipping/
  3. Im curious to know peoples thoughts on these bloodlines? Butterfly (pigeon) and Mercury. Mercury is a fairly new strain and the full white on white butterfly strain is not common in my area?
  4. Here is my 240g tank at my office with wild discus, rummynose- 100, cardinals - 100, buenos airies tetras- 30, red spotted Guyana angels - 15, Tefe Green discus - 5-5.5"- 4, Semi Royal Brazil Cupeira Discus - 4.5"-2 and apistos. Red shadows are the office lights above the tank.
  5. Hello, I'm a new member from Calgary. I have a couple of tanks. A 120 gallon one stocked with 10 discus and about 12 bristlenose and lots of assasin snails. My other tank is 35 gallons and currently has 1 sick discus. He was beaten up by a breading pair of discus in my other tank. I may put them in the smaller tank some day and see if I have any success at breading. The bristlense I have are albino, brown and calico. I'll be looking for some super reds in the future.
  6. Ok, so originally my idea was to rebuild my 230 gallon as a Peacock Cichlid tank however over the last couple months watching my planted tank has been very rewarding and the wife and I have discussed setting up the 230G as a planted tank, and adding Discus (not immediately but once we feel the tank is stable). So the thought process currently is as follows: 1. Create a 3D background (similar to this: http://www.notjustfish.com/images/products/665.jpg) 2. Setup under gravel jets 3. Get the tank setup with my current plants from my 50G using a soil substrate capped with white sand. 4. Cycle the tank and add Discus friendly fish (Corys, German Blue Rams, Tetras, etc...) 5. Add Amano Shrimp (I've read lots about how if they are big enough they can co-habitat with Discuss just fine) 6. Finally add my Discus I'm looking for opinions and thoughts from users who have had experience with Discus and get some feedback on the Soil substrate idea. Cheers, Tom
  7. Does any one knows good reputable Discus Breeders in Calgary and areas close to Calgary?
