I had never seen any sign of breeding, until we moved them 3 weeks ago. Any ways sitting and glancing over at the tank. I notice something moving on the filter thinking it was probably hair or something from my last water change. It turned out to be a little baby. Completely shocked cause they never seen anyone holding. watching cause i knew their behaviour changed. But i was under the impression the held for like 25-30 and wouldn't eat in that time. Any ways i have never breed any fish like this so i have no idea how to guess how old the baby is, so i know if it's worth it to go through the tank and look for more. Say it is a week or two old also, what chance do you think there would be more in there?? It has lots of rocks and hiding places. Like within the rocks there are holes? However, my demasoni babies are about 1.5 weeks old now, and I think they are still quite a bit smaller than this. I would guess about 3 weeks old. Fishy Posted October 20, 2007 Report Share Posted October 20, 2007 From the pic it is very hard to determine the exact size of the fish. My guess is that it is between 2-3 weeks old. Sometimes the females can hold small batches especially if its their first time and may not be very noticable. More than likely your female had more than 1 fry and the rest are either hiding in the rockwork you have or became food for the adults. Pier Pressure Posted October 23, 2007 Report Share Posted October 23, 2007 Is the baby showing the blue colour yet? Mine were born with the black stripes but the rest were white. After they were in the breeder net about two weeks, I really started to notice them changing to the blue colour. I would say if they have blue to them, they are over two weeks old. I hope that helps. I haven't been able to find anymore or notice anymore showing signs of breeding or holding. And its hard to get a picture cause the little guy hides behind everything lol. These guys are fast i count them all when they come out to eat but they are in and out so fast its hard to see if they are eating or not.
