Sounds almost like a bug you would find in a house plant. An interesting article here, might help a bit http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/Tank_critters2.shtml. Can you decribe in better detail what these worms look like? length, color, etc. It might be easier to figure it out. http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/Tank_critters.shtml, http://www.townoflakelure.com/aquatic_worms.htm, honestly that is a mystery to me. Whats your temp at? maybe you can increase it to 82 for now, and that might help kill off the worms. Or you can try treating the aquarium with an anti worm medication or copper. What about adding salt? I know the plants might suffer, but it sounds like they are suffering more now than if you tried a few things. Also register for http://www.barrreport.com/, or www.plantedtank.net. There are more plant experts who might have seen or heard of these things before. It's worth a try I say :)

From the lists you posted there...

I have a few Limpets kicking around...

But this sounds similar to what I'd have been seeing...

Another group of oligochaetes are the naidid worms. These are common both in running and standing water. Like tubifex worms, most are sediment dwellers, but some are found among aquatic plants. Naidids feed on detritus, algae, plants, planktonic creatures, and some are snail parasites. While not always an indicator of poor water quality, high numbers of particular species can indicate low oxygen levels and low productivity, which very often suggests some degree of pollution.

I noticed alot of dead flies on the surface slime layer and what looked alot like when gas pools around a car during spring in the melted water; when I noticed the worms originally.

They seem to only affect my nice Hygro and my chain sword.

Its a cold water tank, so I'm not sure if I'd want to raise the temperature or add anything... but I am tempted to add a Bristlenose to the tank in hopes that removal of the algae will eliminate them?

So, back to school for you as well right?

How's the tank coming along? Plants doing any better? Solve that pest problem?

Yes sir, wish I wouldn't have wasted my reading week :shifty:

3 essays and a midterm in 2 weeks woo!

Tanks doing fine, threw in 3 random white cloud males and a baby feeder guppy and they're doing fine. Might change my filtration too. Plants not so sure if they're any better yet... but I havn't seen the worms, I think the fish ate them.

Your going to throw-up some more pictures when you've settled your school junk right? :smokey:

Most likely!

Got 8/11 Minnows in it now...

They're flaring their fins like I've never seen before and 2 are chasing what I'd think is the female lol
