jvision
I started doing some mods on my FX5 several months ago. I picked it up 2nd hand, and it didn't have the intake strainer, so I just stuck a big black sponge on the end of the intake hose. I saw a couple mods on MonsterFishKeeprs, and decided I needed a new intake. Here's mine It's a crappy pic, so here's what I went from THe next step is to get rid of the Fluval tubing. Here's a start (stores closed before I could get all that I needed) The short end will be connected to the new strainer and the long end will go to the canister. I got the inspiration from the FX5 Mod Site
Fishful Thinking
I am looking forward to seeing this mod!
jvision
Finished the mod to hard-line the intake. I won't be doing the output for a bit, I think... Here are some pics From the modified intake up the back of the tank Over the back And into the filter One note: I used 3/4" PVC, but the FX5 valve takes a 1" hose, so I picked up a couple 1"barbed-3/4"threaded fittings at Nature's Corner. Because they have all the fittings needed for pond equipment, they're one of the only places in the city that have these in stock.
Parachromis1
Looks good, Jason. Keep us updated! Are you going to do any internal mods to the filter?
jvision
Internal mod will be done before hard-lining the output, I think.
