CO2

It's up to you. Slight pH swings occur from day to night naturally so that's not a problem for the fish. Also probably not a direct cause of the algae.

The only real issues would be if it gets to high at night from the gas + plant respiration. Try leaving it on one night when you can watch the fish for signs of distress. If they look bad, then either keep it off or run an airstone at night.

Mines on all the time, but I use a pH controller to turn it on/off as needed.

If I don't have a solenoid (which I plug into a timer w. my lights), I will put the CO2 into the intake of a powerhead which is plugged into a timer w. my lights. So, I guess, I do turn mine off at night. :)

What is the popular opinion regarding Co2 do you turn it off at night or leave it on. I have been turning it off and I think the up and down swings are causing some of my algae problems, yes no, maybe?

The only time mine has been off in two years is when I change the tank.

I maintain 40 ppm and have never had a problem
