gdcox76
What is the popular opinion regarding Co2 do you turn it off at night or leave it on. I have been turning it off and I think the up and down swings are causing some of my algae problems, yes no, maybe?
werner
It's up to you. Slight pH swings occur from day to night naturally so that's not a problem for the fish. Also probably not a direct cause of the algae. The only real issues would be if it gets to high at night from the gas + plant respiration. Try leaving it on one night when you can watch the fish for signs of distress. If they look bad, then either keep it off or run an airstone at night. Mines on all the time, but I use a pH controller to turn it on/off as needed.
jvision
If I don't have a solenoid (which I plug into a timer w. my lights), I will put the CO2 into the intake of a powerhead which is plugged into a timer w. my lights. So, I guess, I do turn mine off at night.

I maintain 40 ppm and have never had a problem
BettaBeats
my diy co2 never goes off, if i think the co2 is having some affect over time i take out the hose for a few days to allow my plants to catch up. there is also reason to think about the amount of surface agitation/gas exchange
gdcox76
I have been watching the water movement today and I think maybe I still have some "dead" spots in regards to current. Maybe I need to ad another koralia and change where the filter return is situated.
