Cgy_Betta_Guy
Hi all, So I took the plunge and got a decent deal on a used compressed CO2 system for my tanks. First order of business for me is to get this 20lb monster filled. Being a big deal hunter, I was wondering if the other plantys in here could share where they get or have gotten their tanks filled before and what their experiences was like. Maybe this could be a price and service comparison for future reference to others who might be looking for a place to take their tanks? Here is a suggested format for what I am looking for (use it if ya want to): Tank size, cost, business name, test cost if applicable, wait time or tank swap if applicable short description of your experience with them and any extra services that they provide(ie Do they sell new or used tanks? Do they do testing? Do they do a tank swap for the fill?) and any other input you feel is appropriate to mention. Thanks for any help and information you can provide! Jaykit
I've always gotten my tank filled at western canada welding. 10lb cylinder for less than $20. I used to be a welder and used them alot for my supplies and have always been good so it just seemed silly to try and find somewhere else. I bought my cylinder right from them so they just take my cylinder and give me a filled one from the back right away.
werner
I get mind done at Sprouse Fire and Safety. About $20 to fill a 5lb, $25 for a 10lb (a few days to a week wait time). They do the hydrostatic testing too. I used to take them to Praxair, but it's too far away and I was getting a bit of the "don't waste our time, stupid chick" treatment. Cgy_Betta_Guy
Riverstar Fire Protection in Calgary off Blackfoot Tr by Silver Dollar casino 20 lb CO2 recharge $42 10 lb CO2 recharge $28 Hydrotest $15 requires tank to be left with them for at least a day so it can be dried out prior to refill Guy said they can generally fill while you wait depending on how busy they are and the size of the tank. Think he said its about an hour to do a 20lb tank. Also, the guy I bought my Co2 cylinder from actually got them to build it from a converted fire extinguisher so I imagine they might offer that as a service if you ask nicely enough. Cgy_Betta_Guy
Riverstar's prices for recharges went up ( $70 for a 20lb!!) so I went over to Sprouse which is now more convenient for me to get to. Sprouse Fire and Safety - In Inglewood just across the street from Spolumbos' 20lb CO2 recharge $35 forgot to ask about the 5lb or 10lb recharge but should be around $20 & $25 as mentioned above. Hydro test is about $17 regardless of size and recharge is on top of that. there is a $6 shop fee. May be subject to a $9 resupply fee as well. They only run the CO2 station once or twice a week so wait time can be a few days to a week. They can build up a CO2 tank from a reconditioned extinguisher for you with the correct CGA 320 fittings/valve 5lb approximately $175 10lb approximately $225-$250 range
