New To Sps....

Recommended Posts

I have a 90 gallon aquarium that I'm gonna be setting up here shortly.

I've kept lps and softies before but want to try sps.

My question is about lighting.

I have 4 t5 54w bulbs. 2x10000 ice white made by hamilton and 1xATI aqua blue special and 1xATI blue plus.

With this lighting could I keep some sps?

I did a search and found that monti caps, birdsnest and green slimers might work?

I have an mp40w ES and a vertex mocean 2000 on a closed loop fed by an eheim compact 5000 for circulation aside form the return pump

Please let me know.

I do not want to put them into a sytem that they will not flourish in.

Thanks for looking

You should not have a problem as long as the sps is in the upper half of the tank. You should put the frags on the sand bed to start for the first couple of weeks to acclimate the light. Even though it is 4 instead of 6 bulbs, that is still a lot of light intensity for t5s.

The harder corals will depend on how mature the tank is.
