So in the next month or two we're going to be converting our 90G into a cichlid tank. My girlfriend has her heart set on some Blue Dolphin Cichlids. Wondering how many would be comfortable in a 90G and what other cichlids would be suitable tank mates for them.

Thanks for the info in advance!

Blue dolphins (cytocara moorii) can get quite large. You could start out with a group of 4-6 juvies but eventually you will likely only want to keep a pair in a 90 gallon tank. I have a pair in my 5' 120 gallon tank with my frontosa. The male is ~ 7" and the female is about 5". They are beautiful fish.

You could keep them with most Malawi haplochromines that aren't too large or aggressive. They also compliment yellow fish nicely. I keep an Aulonocara baenschi in this tank. Yellow labs (Labidochromis caeruleus) would also go nicely with them.

I have a 90 as well with 1 blue dolphin (it was small when I first got it). I also have in the tank 1- 6 bar frontosa, 1 yellow tail acei, 1 eureka red peacock, 1 blue neon chiwindi, 3 clown loaches, 3 bristlenose plecos, 1 dragons blood peacock, 1 laser cat and about 5 various mbuna and all is happy!!!
