noot
I have a 95 Gal bow front that I want to use as a cichlid home. I have a SIL substrate down, and the aquarium came with a Fluval FX5 cannister that I now have up and running. Is the fluval the only fitration I need, or do I need to add somthing like an aqua clear? I have a air curtain also running in the tank. Thanks for any suggestions or help Edited March 6, 2012 by noot
African_Fever
FX5 alone should be good. I like to use HOB's in combination with most canisters as an extra polishing filter, but I've found the FX5 has enough flow that you should be fine without anything extra. noot
No. What is purigen? I am willing to learn and understand anything to make this hobby more enjoyable and successful
ckmullin
purigen is a god like substance...sorta how those little Ferrero Rocher chocolates fall from the heavens... purigen is a filter media on arnold swartzenager type steroids... Purigen is actually a kick @$$ filter medium for organics etc etc etc. You want to polish water so the Queen will want to drink...use this. Go to Bigals...the best $ i've seen in Calgary. so far. 500g for mid $30. one of the best parts you can recharge it over and over.
noot
Thanks. Does this go into my fluval FX5? or do I need to run a second filter like a aqua clear? thanks for all the help
jcgd
It's like carbon you can recharge. Expensive, but cheap over the long run. The fluval is overkill. You'll have crystal clear water even with all those Mbuna to foul up the water. Perfect filter for the job. jcgd
It goes in any filter. Just add it like you would carbon. * you keep it in a mesh bag so you don't lose it.
