Bandi
I've been voicing my thoughts to friends and family about wanting to build a koi pond and have been warned that it must be fenced. It that true? A fence would kinda take away the appeal in my opinion.
jvision
In most cities, anything deeper than 24" is concidered a pool, which needs a 6' fence with locking gate. The reasoning is to preven children from sneaking into the yard and drowning. I've built several ponds 24" deep, and even have some that overwinter their fish (including koi) without problems. Kirinashi
I too am considering a pond. 24 inches is probably plenty deep. How big are you planning Bandi?
JORG
You are not building a pond , your new dugout is just alot nicer than most :shifty:

Crystal
Really depends on your exact location and the bylaws. Phone your town office and ask. Where I am, if I raised the edge of the pond up 24"+ then there was no need for a fence no matter how deep the pond was.
