Aquaria
Very sorry to hear about the loss. While I have heard about koi jumping out of their ponds, it had always been with a fish new to the setup. It sounds like you have had the koi for a while now. Has it happened before? jvision
If water quality is good, it's usually caused by being spooked; tho, usually the thing doing the spooking wouldn't leave the fish at the side of the pond... so, if it was spooked, it would probably be from something artificial (strange shadows, lights, pounding) Or imagined (don't know how much koi dream) Also, when ammonia levels get high, Some fish will do almost anything to get somewhere cleaner. rodsboys
Sucks dude, I know mine are like family. Sounds like you have some decent sized ones too. Years ago I lost a bunch when I was an idiot and put them in a kiddie pool while I clean my "pond". Went inside for an hour or so, came out to like 20 dried up fish.
