Tigweldpro Posted March 11, 2017 Report Share Posted March 11, 2017 The 8 degree drop does slow them down a lot and my pleco rides the heater for hrs till the tank warms up again. As for heating my water before I add. bypass the water softener and wreck my appliances, get a 45G container/bubbler/pump to age my water in, or some sort of inline on demand heater...... or I just boil the kettle 15 times and add hot while I add the cold. No matter how I do it it will be a pain in the arse or I may just keep doin what I have been as I haven't seen any long term effects so far.
