gettingthere
Hi Forum Please help me identify what type of fish I have. I purchased her at the CAS Auction a few years ago. It is a female as she just laid eggs and is guarding them aggressively. It looks like there is no viable male in the tank as the eggs are starting to become white in colour. Thank you in advance for your opinion of what fish this is and any suggestions of a potential suitable mate welcome!

pipejax
White knight/red top zebra mix is my amateur guess. David
gettingthere
Thank you David. I guess I am going to have to keep her away from male SA cichlids if I wish to avoid further hybridization. I am going to go with that ID. jvision
If she's laying eggs on a substrate (rock, or pit in sand) then she's NOT a Rift Lake African Cichlid, as they are predominantly mouth brooders. She looks like a mix of Central American cichlids
