:welcome: back to the hobby Nathin!!

Well yours sure looks well-fed! You've clearly done a great job raising him, are they a schooling fish? A small group of them would be amazing.

 forget aros, I'm good for Pbass and dats!

Do you have any/could you get any pics of your Dat by itself. That is a gorgeous fish!!

Looking really good!!

Wow! That's a dream tank for anyone
Did you run out of sand? :P

I have never seen pics that made these fish look as good as yours do. Very, very nice

That last fish looks like a Nic to me, you sure it's an Acara? Nice fish all of them though

That second pic is pretty phenomenal Patrick. Gotta love it when you get near-perfect shot like that! (I must admit, these cichlids are proving to be a lot harder to photograph than any other fish I have tried).

Sweet shots Patrick

I have kept Betta pugnax, which is also a wild mouthbrooder type. The only advice I can offer is to cover every single space over the top of the aquarium. I haven't had to worry as much with domestic bettas, but these wild types can be... wild! I had to use paper with tape to cover every crack and they both found a way out, very frustrating.

...hard to get good close in shots with the curved front...
That's definitely why I don't like bowfronts. Yours looks great though, good job

That sucks. I lost my mouthbrooding bettas that way too. One fish that is a really talented carpet surfer is my Weather Loach. Eight times and counting I have found him half-dried on the rug looking like fish jerky and he's always bounced back

Good stuff Greg! Nice to see exactly how they behave and that pic is your best yet, your practise is paying off!

Thanks! Those guys are juvi American flag fish (Jordanella floridae). They are great little algae eaters and colour up very nicely when mature.
Thought so. I don't know of any other Cyprinodontid that is available for us here. They are a nice group of fish. Good luck with yours

Very nice setup
What fish is that in the first pic of your second post? Is it a Cyprinodontid?

Awesome stuff
