That has to be a hybrid

LOL , only a guy could make that kind of an error... I am sure everything will be fine with the fish... I have accidentally done 50% water changes with cold water and didn't have a problem.
By the way the fish you sold me were very nice! Love the afra , not sure what my other fish think in the tank as he thinks he is the boss and is constantly displaying.. his problem is that there are about 30 male peacocks , a male empress and male Aci that keep him in check! In hindsight I should of probably taken one of your female Mara's / sulpher heads.
Take care.

What i find amazing is that you say that the temp fell over ten degrees in a couple of hours.... that is amazing as the power has gone out in my house for over 4 hours and my tanks have only gone down 1 or 2 C in that period of time....
-
No problem with the water temp drop.. I doubt it would do anything short term

Yes you are correct... Amazon.com is now the only way to get these lights at least for the time being as amazon .ca can not sell the lights anymore due to the lights not having the CSA approval's... they will probably shut down amazon.com from selling them soon as well... Glad I have ordered mine before this situation arrived...

Yup... I loved being teased about the 1 dollar bag of electric yellows I purchased for contrast in my 6 foot male peacock tank... was worth the tease! LOL
also picked up some subwassertang for a project I am doing ..... otherwise being the frugal person I am I didn't get any of the other items I bid on...
The items were getting good prices for most of the day up until about the final two hours ...
As always the AA guys did a bang up job and showed a lot of class with the minute of silence at the start of the auction.

Thanks for the info... I am going to use ( Finnex 2 and co2) in a planted tank that I am setting up / 72G ... put in a 2" soil substrate that is topped off with 1" fluorite and a fine gravel.
I've done my work here. When there is no ying to yang life just isn't the same!
LOL Understood

I don't listen to 'plant forum' websites to make a decision. Led's still are not there yet, period. Maybe in another 2-3 years perhaps as it is getting closer.
So are you saying the lighting par values for the Ray 11 touted and graphed by finnex are a lie?
Just wondering... not trying to get into an argument here but would like to know why you are saying they are not yet there, when I see differently on the different sites!
Would like some clarification from others that have tried the Ray2 / I did order 1 and will be trying it on a tank in short order..
-
Its not jumping on the bandwagon... If you go to any of the plant forum sites most of the people are now using the finnex lighting because it has become affordable , uses less power and the par output is such that they say will grow the most demanding of plants.... I know that there is a lot of bad led lighting out there that will only light up an aquarium and are no good at growing plants however the finnex line has apparently made the jump with a reasonably priced unit that meets the grow standard.
-
Yes that is what it seems like... you can purchase the finnex Ray 2 with 7000K lighting 48" for $151 plus tax / with free shipping
really if this works how can one go wrong... way cheaper then then buying T5 lighting and replacing all the bulbs twice a year! good bulbs alone cost 30+ bucks each...
-
I tried contacting Rich about finnex led lights... haven't received a reply... his site seems to be down , is he still around?
-
ya I am thinking the same... guess I will have to get it out of there / all that white sand , such a pity!
-
I shut down a marine tank by taking out the water and then refilling the tank with fresh water and string up the substrate that is a marine white sand... then did a few more fw changes .... how safe would that substrate be to put in some plants... I was just to lazy to take out all of that sand so I thought I would give this a try ....3" deep in a 75 gallon tank
Has anyone ever done this before...?

Try a hot tub supply store

Any good glass shop should carry what your looking for and cut it to the dimensions you are looking for.
-
I would just take a chunk of what you have and buy some at home depot... they have all kinds of that stuff in the plumbing section /
Probably at a 1/3 of the cost of a pet store
-
They look like a couple of varieties of hygrophila
-
You will be fine with a fluvial FX6 in a 90gallon… with plants it is alway good to have some bioload or Ferts and CO2 and enough lighting to balance out things in the tank otherwise you will be fighting algae in short order.

Not a fan of big fish in small tanks!

I am making a background for a terrarium and saw a video where the spray foam was dk brown almost black… anyone know where I can find that kind of spray foam all I see is the yellow and white… checked home depot and couldn't find it there
