very nice indeed!

Where did you get that ss ? someone in Calgary?
-
Something does sound a little off / however with enough liverock that has been cycled and sand it may be possible that the cycle was very quick.

Jerry,
I joined Canreef this morning. Are you talking about the dry rock from Eco-reefer or the EcoLiveRock site?
Eco Reefer
-
Definitely looking at EcoLiveRock as well. What a great idea. It looks like they have a distibutor in B.C.
There is a distributor on Canreef / its not live rock however it is the same rock ... you just have to seed it with 15-20% live rock / it is clean and very porus and because it is shipped dry you get a lot more then if you would of purchased wet rock that weighs a way more.... almost double

I'm currently working on setting up a SW project and am wanting to give ecoLiveRock at try. I'm all for conservation!
I puchased 100lbs of this rock... great looking stuff

Thanks for the ideas...
I am definetly going with the sump... anyone have any idea what size of return pump I should go with... thinking maybe something like 300-400GPH /
Also what brand should I be looking at...
-
Welcome to a great site... you will find lots of help here
-
There are no issues... the only issues I ever had with angels and rainbows in the same tank were with the Angels .... You can not have 2 males and 1 female / the males will scrap forever... so you need to spread out the Angel aggresion and have more females then males and all should be fine.

Ok / I posted this on the Canreef forum however i have not recieved any decent answers.... so I thought I would try over here
the tank i am going to use for the sump in 48x20x14 about 60G the tank above is a 75G 48X18x20
How should I divide up the sump? I plan on having three sections maybe four if I include a bubble trap.. I plan on having a protein skimmer in the drain line section ,a refugium in the centre / then a buble trap if nessesary and then the clean water return section... how big should these be and the height of each section?
Also what size of return pump should I be using for a 4ft return / on the other forum someone said if I used the 800GPH pump that I would be moving to much water in the sump creating a tsunami in the refugium... and that I should use something smaller and creat the extra flow needed for corals via the use of PH's...
What do you guys think?

Ok / I need to clear out another of my tanks to make room for my new project... all that I have left in this tank is the Juli's...
I would like to move the two pairs that I have into a 72G that is stocked with Trophius , Cyp blue flash and a small group of shell dwellers on one end of the tank that has three equal group of rockwork... is there going to be a problem to move these guys into this tank?
The cyps and Trophius seem to be mid to top range dwellers for the most part...

Why would you do the 2 returns Jason? To add more circulation to the tank?
Thx for the advice

I have had BN and Ottos and the cherries and greens keep on multiplying....

Ok // I need a little help here....
I am getting a tank ready to go for salt reef tank with sump below... the tank is 70G ... do I need to turn that water over ten times per hour or what generally is the rule of thumb for water turnover...
what size will I need to have this drill out to turn over that much water...1"?
-
I definetly will be getting one of these guys once I have my reef set up....
-
great start to that tank...
-
We were there about a year ago as well... great exhibit... the tank at the Mirrage is no slouch either
-
Is it a salt store or Fresh?

As far as I seen these new rules have nothing to do with conservation --tank bred Discus in the States or Thailand are not gonna effect the wild populations
exactly!
-
Breeding what we have is going to become very important...
-
I used Safeway brand ammonia
Superstore you can also buy a totaly generic basic / unperfumed etc. that is very cheap... still have nearly a galon of the stuff after about 4 fishless cycles..
-
I have had that plant for years / love the follage... especially with good lights and fertz... if allowed to break surface the green flowers are a bit interesting as well!
-
I used crushed up flake/ON1 and cyclop-eeze and mine were good to go.... now after about 4 mos are on NLS 1mm... they grow super slow
