  1. Hi all,

I have some snails that I want to get rid of.

I have clown loaches in another tank and they do a good job of getting rid of snails.

I have yoyo loaches in another and they dont' seem that interested in snails.

Anyone know of some other small loaches/fish that will eat snails?

I just need a couple for a community tank...

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  2. I have an old flourescent light, it starts up, but then flickers all the time. I tried another bulb, but it does the same thing. You can see the starter light up and then flicker and the bulb flickers too.

Can anyone tell if it is the ballast or the starter? If it is the ballast then the thing should be tossed, but anyone know if changing the starter would fix it?

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  3. Hi,

I was setting up an old Eheim 2213 filter. It works fine, but makes some rattling noises when in use. I took it apart and cleaned the impeller and shaft assembly and put it back together and the noise got WORSE.

The impeller itself looks ok with nothing damaged per se... but I guess these things need to be replaced once in a while? But I'm worried about buying a new impeller and the problem not being fixed.

    Thanks for any ideas...

  4. I'd stick to Canon or Nikon (I own Nikon myself).

They are the largest brands and have the largest selection of equipment and USED equipment (so you can save money and get used stuff).

Between the two, the quality is the same IMO, the ergonomics becomes the deciding point. I like the Nikon camera setups which is why I bought it.

You can't go wrong with either brand. I would stay away from Sony SLRs because of poor noise performance at ISO800 (www.dpreview.com).

    Regards,

  5. Very nice!

    Are those saulosi?

where did you pick them up from?

    nev

    HI Nev,

    Yes Salousi... your favorite. :)

I got them from SerLunchbox... unfortuantely the only female of 2 that held jumped out of the tank a few months ago. The one in the picture has never held even though the male pictured is trying very hard.

  6. Wow, wish I could get my fish to sit still for a second so I could get great pics like that. Seems like I have to take 100 to get 1 decent 1.

    Hi,

Yes takes lots of patience... they were all scared and were at the opposite end of my setup so eventually one would swim over to check out what's happening and I could get a shot.

    The rest wouldn't swim over ... :)
