  1. My parents tank has a glass center brace, but it just came apart.

What's the best way to fix this? Remove old silicone and just apply some new stuff clamp it until it dries?

Or should I remove the entire center brace, clean and reattach both sides of the brace?

    Thanks for your time.

  2. CO2?

    YES!

    Ferts?

    YES!

GW is usually a case of excess ammonia. How planted is your planted tank?

    >>>

It's fully planted with vals, crypts, swords, baccomba, java fern...

I'll try a big water change and see what happens... THANKS!

  3. My 80 gallon is now overrun with algae... I had some thread like stuff for a long time, but now my water is GREEN. I can't seem to get rid of it... I continue my regular maintenance, but it never clears up.

The tank is NOT exposed to any sunlight. I have just 4 T8 bulbs lighting it.

It's been like this for about 3 weeks now... I thought it would clear itself up, but it doens't seem to be happening.

    Any one have ideas?

    THANKS

  4. 10 gallon with 2 incandescent are the BEST small tanks for PLANTS!

Put 2 13w compact flourescent bulbs in and you'll have 26w or 2.6 wpg of lighting, that will be lots for low/medium light plants.

Don't go larger like 15w because they get too large (diameter) and won't fit well.

  5. Doesn't matter which.

    I use both.

This tank has gold fish for co2 and gold fish poop for everything else...

    - A fluval 403 on my java fern tank.

These tanks have lots of plants and diy co2

    - An AC500 on my 90 gallon.

    - A basic small other HOB (about a Aquaclear 200) on my other 80 gal and all is fine and good.

I saw SerLunchBox's tank. He has 2 AC500 and an Ehiem on a 50 gallon!!! and his plants are fantastic!

  6. Yeah the 2-4 wpg is just a rule-of-thumb.

    I've got an 80 gallon 24" tall that I have 4x32T8 = 128 / 80 = 1.6 wpg.

I'll let every one know if it works for my plants which are mostly low light ones...

    -vals

    -crypts

    -java fern

    - 2 swords (don't know the type, these will probably need more light).

    Regards,

    Andrew

  7. My Socolofi had babies about 1 month ago, but took the mom out and left her in a different tank to release the babies naturally (as opposed to striping her). Anyway she was away from the dad for about 1 month.

Yesterday I reunited them after I cleared some tank space and BOOM, the male immediately went in a frenzy and started to fan out all his fins and shimmer. After about 5 seconds of flashing her, they both went into the clay pot and started spinning around each other... kinda looks like dogs sniffing each others bum ... and they spun around for about 15 minutes. Afterwards the female was holding a bunch of EGGS... WOW!

That was cool, I would've tried to capture it on video, but I didn't want to miss the action!
