  1. I have sand in some of my tanks, but mostly Sil #9 from Sil Industries. It is a sandblasting sand that is very course for sand, but a lot finer than gravel. The fish play in it all the time. And it doesn't show the detrious. Best of both worlds. IMO. Leon

I forgot to add, that it is cheap too. It's like $15 for a 90lb bag.

haha that elastic band makes it look like a tank at petland b/c of that elastic bands (-.- people are always shooting them)

  2. I lovely thing happened the yesterday (at noon). My 21 gallon geo system crack on the bottom and it was like a water fall off of the stand. About 5 gallons ended up on the floor (I got a hose out the window into my tank right away so the rest was outside.

It has been a day and is still damp and smells funny. I put a fan on it but still smells. think its mold? Can it form this fast? And is there a way to get ri of it if dont wanna rip up carpet?

  3. My oldest are a Red eyed tetra that is 8. It was 1 outo f 5 that I origianlly used to cycle my first tank.

Another one of my oldest is a 7-8yo BN pleco. He was bought just after the red eyes and has been cleaning my tank ever since. His name is Hoover :)

    8 years old?? wow

haha only got into the fish hobby 2.5 years ago. I killed my first betta (put a lamp to close, and fried it).

then never got another one till my baby salvini (now its 4") and I have had it for 9 months i think I suck with time so could be off completely

  4. anyone comment please comment on corrosion of the metal in renas????

Wel it corrode. if so, how long?

There is only one metal part in the Rena, and that is the impeller shaft. I would assume that they would be no different than any other impeller shaft for corrosion. I have 2 xp3 filters and think they are great.

    Fluval's are ceramic.

I think I'm just gunna test out a fluval impeller shaft in my rena

  5. What is the poll? what kind you think are the best or what kind you have ? or what one would you buy?

    kinda unclear..

    Its what is the best?

And can anyone comment on the corrosing of rena parts? because im not even sure it happens?

  6. I've heard so many opposing views -

Rena is better b/c easier to put together/maintain, and just over all works good.

Rena sucks because if a part breaks you have to order it. (Can’t buy it in stores)

Rena sucks b/c the metal pieces corrode.

Fluval is better b/c the system is set up much better.

Fluval is better b/c replacement peaces are easy to get.

Fluval sucks b/c plastic pieces always break.

Ehiem is better b/c lasts longer then other filters (they don't break)

Ehiems suck b/c they always break.

    ANY More oppinions?
