Picked up two female german blue rams at franco's today, they are settling in nicely - although one of them had a ripped dorsal fin after finally getting into their new home. Not sure if that happened on route, or before hand but hopefully she's ok. I have a bolivian ram (Heimlich) or red ram (never understood why the red in that common name - mines pink/yellow with that cool blue hue). He's about a year old to me now, and I think full grown. Anyways, he's strutting around the tank so happy right now! He'll go into the brightest point of the tank stretch out all of his fins and do his little happy I'm such a stud dance. The new ladies of the tank will come and swim around him, one of the two will chase the other off and then Heimlich will swim into a dark corner with the dominant lady of that show for a little bit. Everyone will go off and do their own thing for a while, and then the whole thing happens all over again. It's quite amusing to watch, I sat for about 30 mins watching.
How long will they do this, before Heimlich picks one? I was worried that he wouldn't care for the new ladies, being a different strain?, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Can the two interbreed? What's the end result?
I guess a Franco's plug is in order now. I was told that Riverfront would have some, at the beginning of the week, went when I was told would be good, and there was none there. Went by Franco's after someone else here suggested it and really liked the place. They said come back Sun. and we'll have some, and sure enough they did. Awesome shop, extremely clean, big variety, happy to answer questions, was honest with me.
Anyhow, I've got fishies to watch before lights go off!
