  1. I have Skunk loaches in with angels cory cats neons etc.. And I believe as long as you have 5 or 6 they will spend all there time eating snails and chasing each other..

When I bought them I was looking for the Dwarf (zebra) but I purchased the skunks.. All I had a couple days later was empty shells littering the bottom

  2. Those pics look like seriously over stocked undersized tanks for the livestock in them.

I know it looks like that from the angle of the pic's. I removed some caves/rocks

from the tank for cleaning and my main feeding bay is where they come when

there is a change in the tank. It is a 600gal tank (8X6X2) also once pairs started

to form I would drive to W.E.M. and do some trading or donating to them(the extras)........

underneath the mall , very impressive under there. This club should set up a tour

(for free) with the mall..... I did it on my own..... contiuisly hasseling the person in

charge of the underwater world until I finally was accepted........

Any way I had to always have at least 6 of each species to get breeding pairs....

I would not do africans again, yet they did serve as dithers... just my preference....

Sometimes they would keep my fish.... like my 10inch bifaciatum... which I seen 3 months

later and regreted trading him in ( they have small tanks set up down there to) and

on the other hand when I brought my extra red devils to them ..... Well I had to watch

them been thrown into the shark tank....RIP....The filtration system was amazing....

You say that tank was overcrowded and I do agree but I never lost one fish!!!!!!!!

Anyway who do we talk to .......to call W.E.M. and set up a tour of the under mall tanks????

It's amazing...buddy told me to jump out on a large rock... I did .... next a red tail cat

(must of been 5 ft) jumped onto the rock ...its head landing at my feet... begging for food

..................AMAZING........... had to go to the washroom after that.............

Nandosis what do you think??????? For all members!!!!!...................................

Are you just talking about an area where someone takes care of the aquariums for the mall?

  4. I dont know how accurate this is but.... I think some of my fish have callamanus from frozen food...

I found a few articles saying over feeding especially the frozen food can lead to this problem in your fish...

So when I feed the frozen food I am very careful to make sure it is eaten or removed promptly...

just a thought in regards to your outbreak in your betta's

  5. Wow! Vampire Snails.

What sort of snails are these? Do any of your fish look injured? I can think of any species of snail that would be quick and strong enough to damage a healthy fish. Have you done a fish count? The snails could've been eating a dead fish.

Other than that I have no idea.........

I don't know how you can only have several ramshorn snails... they seem to be multiplying in my tank like crazy,,,, there was even 2 that were connected at the head floating around my tank!!! why they were hooked up like that I dont know

The connected at the head would be them breeding.......

And I only have 8 right now (I was actually updating my signature while you were typing your post.) I've given away approximately 50 baby snails since I got the original 5 back in about April? I also diligently remove the egg sacks as soon as I see them. It was kinda neat when I first got them to see the eggs hatch and the baby snails grow, but now that I understand just how hardy these guys are, and just how many eggs they can lay, that novelty has worn off.

And the Ramshorns in the brackish tank? They only lay eggs after a freshwater change. (I alternate brackish and fresh, keeping the sailnity between 1.002 and 1.004.)

Well it is good to know they are breeding.... when i pulled them apart I thought they were dead and I thru em in my tank with angels and my loaches but they are moving I see...

these ramshorns are the generic snails you get with plants right?

  7. Even if the tank was glass, it's the silicone between the glass panes that hold it together, not the silicone on the inside of the tank.

I have a tank same as hers someone has rubbed 3 or 4 inches away cleaning it I assume(used tank)

What is the purpose of the inner silicone then? Should I bother to reseal the 4 inch piece?

  8. I have had this plant in my tank for a couple of months and it has not grown any roots.

The plant looks healthy and new leafs have begun..

    any suggestions? is this normal? ';

I have an elastic around it to some driftwood.

  9. I too am setting up an African Tank

    a 75 gallon

The fish I have chosen are

Idotropheus sperengerae (Rusty cichlid) FOR RED

    Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos FOR Intense BLUE

    C. Afra Cobues FOR Blue ish ORangie yellow

Labidochromis caeruleus (electric Yellow) For Yellow

BN and hopefully some syno multis or petricola's

The Colors are gonna be great and the best part is I purchased them from Fellow AA members and not some Bleepin bleep

    overpriced fish store..!!

And I think the people still have fry for sale to boot!

  10. I set up a newer tank with a sand substrate. I have read that between 2 and 12 weeks you can have a Brown Algae outbreak.

And it is caused by silica and phosphates being out of wack and it will correct itself and disapear.

Question I have is.. When the say disappear.. Do they mean literally or they mean after I clean it a few times it wont come back...

Because it is getting pretty ugly in there and I dont know how long I should wait before starting to rub it off stuff..

  11. .

Duff - If I go to Aquagiant (I probably will), I will definitely PM you and let you know what I think. And I thought the old Centenial Mall became Medowlark, or am I mistaken? You're right, there is a Superpet in Mayfield Common but last I saw it was still in the process of closing. Doesn't matter, I'll actually be in Mayfield Common tonight so I'll drive by and check. I'd rather not buy anything there though.

Pretty sure centenial mall = mayfield common

and the super pet at mayfield common became sportchek.... and opened in the parking lot of the Walmart by anthony henday on stony plain road and is now becoming petsmart

which is weird because I thought superpet was a PJ's with another name on it
