  1. Hello folks, i need a little help stocking a 65 long (48 x 18) Im building this tank around Placidochromis sp. "Phenochilus Tanzania", i have 2 right now but i plan to get 2 or 3 more females asap. Now heres my problem, what else do i put in the tank?!?. My plan was to do a hap tank then i remembered how terrible my lfs is and that quickly changed (i could count the TOTAL number of haps on two hands!). Now heres what i need, i need tank mates that can live in a com. tank with the Phenos and wont bother them, and fish that wont out grow my tank and VERY common fish so i actually have a shot at finding them. Your free to choose from any cichlids world wide but african species would be prefered. Any help given would be amazing, thanks a million.

  2. Hmm ok i see the fact that asian aros are illegal to import into the US, but why wouldnt the goverment liscence a few private farms in the southern states (due to the weather) that could pond raise and breed them, the goverment would make money on the liscensing and the farm would make money on the fish. There would obviously be a market for them so i doubt theyd have any problems selling. I also know a guy online who lives in cali who owns a asian aro, its a very nice looking fish, its a shame its illegal to keep it, mean while a guy i know here has 4 of them, oh well who hasnt broken to "forbidden fish laws" lol RIP snake head :(

  3. I dont like to use snails, if they die they rot so fast that i can poision your tank pretty quick, and they do die easy, snails are enviromental indicators, when they die it means somthings wrong with the water, sadly they make it alot worse, id just go out and get another pleco

  4. Sadly ive heard worse, ive seen a pic once but i cant find it now, but its the same as "making" a heart parrot, they cut the tail off when young and the fish grows into a "heart" shape like the ones in this pic, there is also a "unicorn" variety of bp, you can guess what they go there

  5. 1) Any sites i can visit to learn about right set-ups, food, etc??

Cichlid forum is good for their profiles, but theyre chat is pretty bad since most of them are african keepers, i hate to plug forums like this but cichlid madness is really good for discusion of CA/SA cichlids.

    2) i currently have a 35g hex tank, this good enough?

    It is but your limited.

    3) any fish recommendations

Ok im going to say these fish since im not postive on the demensions of the tank. Keyholes, rams (blue and bolivian), festivum, convicts, hondurn red points (another species of con that are gorgous), sajicas, rainbow cichlids, firemouths, smaller acaras, dwarf pikes, and there is a few hundered dwarf cichlids you can choose from.
