your gonna need to find one of very similar size..which will be very difficult.

Hello, me and my wife are new to the site but have heard some excellent things about ways to aquire new skill knowledge and fish. I am currently the proud owner of a 25 inch tiger shovel nose catfish. The only downside being that at this size almost everything we think is safe in the tank with it gets swallowed including a 12 inch pleco and an 8 inch jack dempsy. so as we are not sure how we can add colour to our tank and keep our shovelnose i am hoping to find someone with the info i need to remedy my quandry. any help any of you can offer would be greatly appreciated. sincerely m&mhills
my shovelnose is pushing 2feet and has a similar sized redtailcatfish as a partner.. if your looking for colour..add a redtailcatfish..

it all depends on the type of arowna
in captivitlv ive seen
-rtg's at 26inches
-silvers over 3feet
-jardini's pushin 2 feet
-green over 28 inches
i keep my redtailgolds in a 440 gallon pond bythemselves and i feel its tight for space.

78ish.
I've seen shine aquatics systems and they are running at 86...
i keep my arowana pond at a minimum of 82..

Divider, and lots of reading.
I believe he had the tank divided and he fertilized threw the divider to blow the fh jizz over
How old are you?
-
well obviously you shouldnt start out with a 26inch redtailgold but you could start out with a 2 inch jardini.
dont be discouraged by fellow a.a members.. this hobby is all about learning and the best way to learn is hands on experience..

Because of aggression issues, you often need to separate male and female w. a divider. Egg crate works well, as the female could lay eggs on one side of the divider and the male can fertilize them from the other side.
excellent advice...

How can you adequately house a tarpon?
large pond.

sometimes, wild caught is the only option
i have a few wild fish but only because captive bred speceimens are simply not available..For example, I keep tarpon which are not bred in captivity, so wild caught was my only option.

Hi guys, great site.I was wondering if anyone had any cool ideas as far as computerized monitoring and maintenance equipment goes for saltwater aquariums... is there even such a thing out there? Where would I get something like that in Edmonton, or even in Alberta?
Even some info on where to start looking would be nice... I have an older laptop that I think I would like to resurrect as the beginnings of a marine aquarium system! It's a dual core 1.5, and how sweet would that be to have something that would operate as a system database, controller, monitor, even alarm?
Am I just dreaming with this, or are there people out there who know what I'm talking about? If my dad can build a model railroad system for a client that controls microswitches and provides feedback for the train nerd, then sure as heck it should be possible with the right tools to create something even more impressive for a FOWLR setup. Right?
If software is hard to find, it's not a big worry - I have access to a group of dedicated programmers, but what type of hardware is there out there that could be used in an application like this? I would imagine I'm looking for things like timed lighting, valves that could be electronically controlled, manifolds... but I digress.

Nothing wrong with 2 cannisters on a 50
but I would reccomend a filtration system that has a "BIO_WHEEL"

They have them at familypetsuper centre at $300 for a pair every now and then and big als has them for up to $300 each but most are $200 each and tiny and hell. I suggest buying for local breeders like Skynoch (scott) or Rudy.
If you talk to Frank @ Family Pet Supercentre i'm sure he'd be happy to bring some in for you, i was just at BA today in edmonton and yikes the rays are in bad shape so i wouldnt buy them from there at least
spencer jack has a motoro for 145!!

I traded them for the datnoids, I've already told you that.
so you traded your rays for dats and then your dats for rays??
i hope you take care of these ones!!!

what happened to your first two rays?

dont forget the best food on the market "xtreme"lol, says who?
the bailey brothers.. The creators of petfishtalk...
-
Well a lot of us have rays and Hikari Massivore is a very common food for rays so I'm currently researching finding what other ray keepers use for food. If you have a brand or food to add it would be helpful.
Ocean Nutrition pellets for bottom dwellers
NLS Thera A+ Jumbo
mazuri aquatic gel
Silvercup sturgeon diet sinking extruded pellets
bloodworm pellets
These were just copied and pasted from mfk threads so i dont know what alot of them are.
If someone could list a few arowana foods too that would be great.
I know prawns, beef heart and nightcrawlers are good sources of food but I'm looking more along the lines of pellets and dry goods
dont forget the best food on the market "xtreme"
