Sorry for your loss

Gold's Aquarium in Calgary has a few in stock now at $34.99 each. They are about 2" long. I was thinking of getting one but was told that they often grow up with deformities. Does anyone have any experience in that matter?
I have had 2 of EBJD for about 6 months.
I love these little guys, but they are not hardy fish for sure!
They have NOT grown ( on NLS growth and brine shrimp)
When I feed them, I have to make sure they do eat as neither of them can see very well.
( thus the reason they are in my tetra & corydora tank at 6 months old)
Although very pretty, these little guys have been quite the worry and work...not to mention $$$$
As an animal health technologist with a background in genetics.. IMO I sure do understand why these little guys were culled!

Congrats on your new baby, he is a beauty!!
Don't expect him to grow fast .. we have had both of ours for over 6 months now and they are still tiny and in my tetra tank with my corycats :smokey: We have a laugh every time that we tell someone our dempseys and tetras are in the same tank doing well.

yeah well i hope he will eat the peas.
any other suggestions?
I bought frozen food made with peas and fed that as a diet to avoid problems .. not sure where you can find it though .. I lived across the country at the time.
Hope your big guy gets better!

I had a blue oranda that had swim bladder issues. I Fed frozen peas and it worked well. He seemed to get this when I didn't wet the food so it would sink, and he would gulp air when eating.
