Hi everyone, I am getting some cherry shrimp into my community tank. At the moment, I have 3 zebra danios, 6 white cloud minnows, 5 otos, 4 bn plecos. And a pea puffer for snails. The Puffer leaves all the other fish alone, but will it snack on my shrimps?

Ok so maybe take out one of the sponges and put some bio on the top and ship the rest of the media down on the xp4?

Hey everyone, was needing some advice on my 60 gallon. I know most will say it is over kill but I had the filter there so might as well uses it right? :smokey: I have a FX5 and a Rena Filstar XP4. I wanted the FX5 to be purely bio and the XP4 to be mechanical. I was thinking for the FX5 to take out all the trays and use the pot scrubbers like Jvision did. Would that be wise? Or should I leave the bottom tray in and use a polishing pad? For the XP4 I was thinking of Carbon on bottom tray, then the 30ppm pad, then 20ppm pad and then on top tray use the micro filtration. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hey All, I got 2 tiger barbs in the tank that are swimming around each other in circles, and I think they may be trying to mate. If I was to setup a seperate tank for them, should I just take water out of my existing tank to get the setup going? Or should I cycle a new tank, then put them in?

I googled the Mantis Shrimp and came up with a bunch of youtube videos. Very disturbing guy heh

Hmm, hopefully it was just a sick fish. But I will keep an eye on the tank some more.

Hey Jerry, I think the water temp might be the problem, I have it around 76-80 for the other fishes. My tank has been up for over a month now, but I do have a nitirite problem atm. It is at 5ppm. Doing a waterchange tonight after work, and I hope it will help those guys out a bit.

That sucks, I was asking cause mine last 1 1/2 days It was doing great then today after work she had left us. But it looks like she might have been picked on by the barbs...

I was told by a LFS that Panda Corys aren't as hearty as other Corys. Is there any truth behind this?

Hi everyone, I am 1 day old on Alberta Aquatica! It's great to find a local forum site with so much info. I just recently got back into fishes. Wife bought me a 29 gallon for Christmas and before we even got that set up we returned it for a 60 gallon! Hoping to learn lots from everyone here, Tiger Barbs and Silver Dollars are sure different from Koi! I live in Edmonton, and work at a Marine shop. Figure that one out :P Edward
