  1. try not to deplete all the local fronts as i still want to add a few more in the near future haha

i picked up 4 from a local guy a couple months ago and they are some of the most interesting fish i have owned...kind of like a dog...but in water

i feed mine 3mil and they are bout 4-4 1/2in but they eat the 1 mil when i trow some in as well.

    hope you enjoy them

  2. I will usually fill a 25G garbage drum with water and dose it with a splash of Prime, i toss in a fair size powerhead pump to circulate while i drain the tank into 5G pails and haul off to the draining facility (toilet). Once the water has been drained i add a 3/4" hose to the end of the powerhead and fill my tank back up. In a 110G it amounts to about 30% and i do it every 1-2 weeks depending on free time available.

  3. i'm running a 110G and a 25G in the same room as my computer right now. The Epcor bill doubled a few months afte the tanks were setup and around the same time i switched all the bulbs in the house to CFL...?

The only thing i can think of is adding an undergound 3-6 tech cable to my garage to provide a 60A subpanel...it was installed before the bill went up and i even did some constant welding for a week but what i'm thinking is that the cable being in thefrozen ground is causing an electrical draw somehow. Im going to change it down to two 30A circuts so i can switch one off when not welding (dont need 220V for aything else) and see if that helps...otherwise the tanks may end up with a target on them again!

  4. The ones at OxyPro are heavy use welding gas tanks so their prices will be higher...the nice thing about them is your tank will never expire....they are just really pricey.

I dont use theirs for plants but they are great for welding

  5. Why are you using alot of Prime? You need very little, like a few drops for a 10 gallon tank. "Dosing heavily" like you said, is probably killing your fish. And let me guess, every time you do a water change your adding more and more prime right?

    Boom :boom:

Kind of harsh for a guy just looking for some help Boom. I dont know of the effects from constantly overdosing with Prime but if you read the directions a dosing of 5 times the recommended is right there on the label if you run into a spike.

I've had others on this site and even from an LFS recomend a heavier dose up to 10 times in an emergency or for a hurt fish even!

  6. Pour in a dose of Stability to get it started. I cycled a tank 6 months ago with ammonia and no fish and used 2X the initial dose of Stability one time and the tank was good to go in 2 1/2 weeks.

The bacteria is in the air as they say but a helping hand wont hurt. Just make sure you see the entire nitrogen cycle pass...Ammonia-Nitrite-Nitrate...do a quick water change and make sure it can cycle the ammonia level from 5ppm back down to 0 in 24hrs or less.

  7. Looks excellent! Very good work on the stand and canopy. Out of curiousity, what made you choose aspen for the trim? Not really a common wood.

    Boom :boom:

Price mostly...i was going to work with Mahogany again but the costs were nearly double and the material would have needed some mill work. I still need to add a joiner and planer to my shop...you can only do so much with a hand plane. haha
