  1. Before i say hello i want to thank a few people!!!!!!! degrassi, dunl, RD, African_Fever, chloeclose!!!! I'm new into cichlids but i have had fish most of my life. for a while i bred guppies and kept community tank going with tetras, angel fish, and other common community fish. Then surfing on the net i came across Cichlid-forum and i fell for african's. Mbuna's mainly. Take a look at my tank: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/tanks/displaytank.php?tank=7783 i'm adding a pair of F1 Ps. Saulosi that African_Fever is selling me. I cannot wait to get them. I plan on setting up a 2nd tank for them for breeding purposes. Ps. Saulosi's were impossible for me to find here in alberta, so i hope that if these guys breed, i'll have some available for others that are looking for them! Thanks again for helping this newbie, and i just hope that i can be of help for someone in the future! nevchewy couple pics of my fish:
  2. Just wanted to revive this thread to ask if any one has had an issue iwth Hagen GreenX? I had a nitrate spike in my tank and the LFS suggested to give it a try. I added it to my filter and it brought down my nitrates to a better level. they are sitting at between 5 and 20 right now. when they spiked to over 50. was this just a salt water issue? just wondering if i should beware? thanks! nevchewy

  7. I have an 86 gal tank that has been set up for a month now and i just added a single Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei" to my tank. I have right now: 1x Pseudotropheus demasoni 5x Pseudotropheus socolofi 3x Labidochromis caeruleus 2x Iodotropheus sprengerae (rusty) here are some pics of my tank: cichlid-forum My question is: My wife to be picked out the acei because it was a differnent color and she wanted one fish that she could call her own. So we bought it from the LSF in St. Albert and when she picked it out it looked fine. When we added it to the tank we noticed that there seemed to be a problem. He is only using one side fin. the other one is pressed to his body and moves just a little bit. I was wondering if i should be concerned or being that we have seen him move it a little bit, will he ever move it fully? we cannot remember when we were in the LSF if there were any problems... but we think that there was no issues... could it be the stress of catching the fish and releasing? does any one have any experience with this situation? thanks in advance, nevchewy
