  1. 4 weeks, no less. If any fish show signs of disease then the tank gets treated and, as degrassi stated, the 4 week period starts over once the fish look healthy again.

Thats exactly what I do sometimes 5 weeks after looking healthy better to be safe than sorry. Well either that or I'm just anal

  2. Very nice ... I'm looking forward to part 2 for sure ... keep us posted all these DIY treads are making me wish I was done renovating so I could start playing LOL

Done renovating? A novel concept, but I don't think it exists. At least not when you're married.

Tell me about it we moved into this house on Sept. 2nd ... I started doing renos that night with a tap that wouldn't turn to hot and a retaining screw that was stripped not to mention that the "master renovator" didn't seal the grout or tiles ... yep I've been having all kinds of fun ... If I ever meet the guy who suposidly fully remodeled the house :boxer:

But the good news is, the fence is done (atleast the part were doing this year), the upstairs is almost done and once its done then I can start playing with all the empty tanks I have laying around ... and the number of them keeps going up. :smokey:

  3. ^ Why? Says in your sig you have an empty 5 gallon ;)

Can I ask where you got him Doc?

I must resist cause if I don't my hubby will kill me -roll- He said no more pets (lizard, fish or otherwise) until I'm done doing all the renos. I have kinda started a few projects and well haven't quite gotten to finish them yet, but I should be done in the next couple of weeks then to set tanks up and cycle and then let the fishies come :hey:

  4. 80 lb lab/pitbull?

we have a 85 lb lab/chow and a puppy lab/pitbull.......I thought this puppy, as she is supposedly only 1/8 lab, and looks like a purebred pitbull would only be 50-60 lbs!!!! She's 9 weeks and weighs about the same as my 20 lb year old baby! Oh Nelly!!!

Ha ha ha I totaly hear you on that one. when we got our female we were told she'd be about 80-90lbs. about 2 years later she was tipping the scales at 110lbs. Then we got her a buddy houdini who was almost a year old when we got him and sitting at about 80lbs figuring hes be about 100 - 120lbs mature we went with it. 2 months ago for vet check up and shots Houdini is now sitting at 172lbs (oh and still growing seing as hes only 1.5 yrs old) and Roxy is sitting at 148lbs. Luckly she's 3.5 so shes done growing. LOL

I'm 6'2" and they both can rest their front paws on my shoulders when standing on their hind legs. Boy I hope the meter reading guys can follow directions or they could be ..... :boxer: -roll-

  5. :welcome: fishies, lizards, dogs, add a few parrots and we could be related

Well the parrots would get me in more trouble than the ummm... ahhhh... 100 bucks I just spent on filler fish for the kids tanks (they handed me thier allowance today and I matched them kinda our deal LOL) and lets see I went to the reptile show last weekend for 1 lizard and came home with 2 ... and um trying to figure out how to tell my hubby that my female MHD is gravid and going to be laying eggs soon ... hmmm add parrot to the list ... I think I'll wait a month or two for that LMAO

Oh wait yeah I'm picking up 2 more tanks tonight from Nick (huby kinda knows about those but not really :P)

Good thing I'm such a good cook  -roll-

  6. Hey there my name is Niki, I found this site through Sam Chicklets on another forum. I curently am down to 4 tanks (my moms been watching my tanks for the last month or so due to us moving and going on holidays for a month) Lets just say I hope to not have to do another move for a very long time if ever again.

I have a 75 gal community tank which houses 2 ID sharks (one black on grey) 1 red tail (she killed off the female  ) 2 angel fish, 4 tetras (i think there was 12 to start with but my sharks like to munch lol) and 4 green tiger barbs. I'll be adding some more life to ths tank once it all gets moved into the new house.

I have another 75 gal tank that is now empty and will be looking to fill it again by christmas. It WAS my Chilid tank had 15 in total along with tetras, snails, live plants, etc. still not sure EXACTLY how everything died in this tank but my mom said she came home one day and everything was toast and that she had accidentally overfed them a day or two before not thinking to remove the extra food. (shes a newby can't really blame her for overfeeding she was doing us a favor keeping them to begin with)

3 - 10 gal tanks that are my kids

first one is Joeys he has 15 mollies, an algea eater, and a couple of apple snails

second one is Dylans he has a silver dollar and a gourami (we rescued these fish from a walmart shopping cart that were left in there in +36c heat over our holidays)

the third one is at my dads and he gave it to my son for his birthday (inexchange for one of our spare larger tanks lol) this one houses 4 neon tetras, 2 albino coreys, and 2 standard plecos (the plecos will be moved to our shark tank as they are getting to large for the lil 10 gal)

I also have an empty 33 gal, but were not sure if that will be for fish or more lizards yes I have lizards too as well as 2 - 150lb shep/mastif dogs

I have an addiction to fish, lizards, and very large dogs lol. On a personal note ... My husband and I own and run a trucking company and I do bookeeping, teach piano, and babysit on the side. I like to keep busy lol.

Any ideas on what to fill the empty tanks with are very much so welcome  thanks for taking the time to read my blabber :smokey:
