I moved my 180 gallon tank into the basement around a tight corner. I had to stand it on its end, twist it, slide it, and a bunch of other tricky moves to get it to fit around the corner. Just be gentle with it as mentioned above and use blankets or other softeners to cushion the tank.

I've cleaned my tubes from time to time. I've found smaller brushes and just attach string or fishing line to the end so that you can pull them trough a couple of times.

I had one of my Jagers fail the exact same way recently. Just kept pumping out heat! Didn't lose anyone thankfully.

I agree with Wingin' It. When I started my colony I bought 15 1" juveniles and now I am left with 2 mated pairs. Over time, some were bullied but I did my best to pull them out and trade them off.

With the 2 pairs in the tank, it seems like they breed like rabbits and I have probably ~100 fry now. It is very cool to watch the juveniles help care for the newly hatched fry.

During the cleaning of the glass, just make sure that you get all the way to the top and you won't have to worry about any hardwater at all. And if you do get some, a razor blade and a good scrubbing pad will take it off easy.

The idea behind a sump is that it is a larger version of a canister filter and you want to set it up in the same manner.

1. You need mechanical filters (sponge, sock, etc.) to remove the heavy particles first. So yes, a sock on the inflow to your sump is a very good idea.

2. Then you are going to want your bio and chemical filters (kaldnes, bioballs, carbon, etc.) to reduce the amonia, nitrite, etc.

3. In regards to your air-stone question, you can put all of your equipment in it so that your display tank is free of cords, heaters, airstones, etc.

4. And after its gone through all of that, then it will go through your return pump and back into your display tank.

I can't seem to locate a picture of it, but there was an article that I read once about this massive planted fish tank in a millionaire's house. It had Anubis that were 4ft big, 100 altum angels in it, just as many discus, and tonnes of tetras. It was floor to ceiling and took up the whole wall. SO amazing!

For now, I am satisfied with my 180g planted.

Would it not be possible to do the opposite to find your balance point? Such as add KNO3 until you have excess left over at the end of the week, then repeat with the other dosings other other weeks, until you found your balance point. Then you could increase as you wanted on those incremental values for each?

I have never had a freshwater sump. However, I have seen people online that run opposite lighting... what I mean is that both the sump and the display tank are planted tanks. When the display tank is "daytime" the sump is "night" and vis versa. Something that I want to try at some point.
